Tell me you live in the US without telling me you live in the US:
The US or the UK*. In the UK, teeth are considered premium bones.
There are such things as NHS dentists, but you have to make an appointment when you’re born to see them when you’re in your 40s.
The pain is unbearable, and that’s from a small hole. Imagine how painful it is whilst actively drilling a LARGE hole. All of the pain. Like, your whole body inadvertently clenches due to the unbelievable amount of pain.
No way did this happen…
Been in this kind of dental pain. You’d pull the tooth long before you’d consider drillin’ n fillin’ it yourself.
If anyone is in this pain, you should know this…
1: Don’t ignore it. It won’t go away, and there is usually an infection that can spread to your jaw or other teeth. It needs to be taken care of by a professional ASAP.
2: You can take an NSAID with a Non-NSAID pain reliever, and it is just about the only thing that can relieve this pain. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen were my only relief while waiting for my dental appointment.
My brother in law was hospitalized twice because he had a bacterial infection in his spinal cord. They put a needle into his aorta to inject antibiotics. They finally found that it all stemmed from an infected tooth.
Jesuuuus
Afaik, rarely an unattended tooth infection can break through to the sinus and even cause sepsis https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tooth-abscess/symptoms-causes/syc-20350901. Also rarely an infection in the lower jaw can spread down into the neck, causing rapid swelling that if untreated can cut off your breathing and suffocate you https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/23457-ludwigs-angina. Though I’m not sure why the latter is named Ludwig’s Angina since I don’t think it’s associated with heart pain.
TLDR: small risk of dying if a dental infection isn’t treated and infection spreads
AFAIK angina comes from the Latin word angere which means to suffocate.
Angina pectoris being suffocating chest pain, often accompanied by shortness of breath.
And Ludwig angina litteraly suffocating a person via swelling.
Yeah I think I’d try an ice skate and a rock Castaway style before i attempted a DIY root canal.
Opioids like Tramadol can also help with the pain.

OTC was not a criterion.
How can he afford the equipment but not the dental bill?
The equipment is approximately $400-$1000, and root canal is anywhere from $600-$1600. Maybe they got a bad price and decided it would be cheaper to do it themselves?
Will probably be fun when he inevitably gets an infection
Couldn’t he travel to Mexico and get it done properly for that price?
Assuming you want to got to, say, Mexico city, it costs a little over $800. The root canal in Mexico cost $250-$500, making the total cost $1050-$1300. Unless they are already in Mexico, I don’t think this is any better of an option.
It is better because it will be done by a dentist and not by the guy himself.
I can imagine someone watching a few YouTube videos and thinking they can pull their own tooth, but doing a root canal on yourself is a little much. Bad joke.
objection: this is fucking 4chan
Agreed. Remember that kid that castrated himself? Or the guy who hung himself from the radiator on a live feed. Root canal is small fry.
I’m sorry, but WHAT?!
Do not answer me, but Jesus fucking Christ, what in all fuck.
Good point. I was assuming average intelligence. They have repeatedly shown that they are below average.
Maybe they’re average intelligence, but with above level go getter attitude?
All you need is a gamer chair and some Fuji IX.
Came here to say this was probably posted by Bob Mortimer.
Can’t load the clip, but I’m guessing it’s the guy on Would I Lie to You? doing his own dentistry! He always has a great story.
Exactly the one. His stories are always amazing!
The difference is, he’s working on veneers. So no pain to himself.
This text doesn’t look very green. Maybe it’s stained red with Anon’s blood?
Oil of clove will numb the pain and no need for a prescription. Get the tooth pulled it is far cheaper.
I got a root canal and a temporary crown, a few years later I got a crown, many years later the crown came off because there wasn’t enough tooth to anchor it. I got the tooth pulled but I had waited so long that the tooth started getting absorbed into my jaw and it took 4-5 hours of hammering to break it out of my jaw. The dentist needed to take breaks from the hammering.
My advice is don’t waste the time doing all the other steps when you will just need it pulled later. If you can get the tooth without it being broken you may get to make a custom implant in the future.
Oil of clove??
Just go to the fucking dentist, even third world countries have public healthcare for such extreme issues.
America: Fuck yeah!
I am constantly amazed at this for the US. I’m from Honduras, and most dentist stuff is like 20 bucks, with some more intricate things running you maybe 60 to 90 usd. I’ve literally never spent more than that on a dentist visit in my life, and I’ve been to at least 5 dentists in all 30 years, stayed loyal to two of them because they have been so good, they’re the kind of people you just stick to.
If you work shift work a dentist being open could be 10 hours from now and dental pain is excruciating now. A 24 hour supermarket may be open but the pharmacist might lock away analgesics, oil of clove isn’t locked up because it isn’t a drug.
It gets you through a night of pain until you can get to the dentist. Unless your first world country has 24/7 dentists.
I believe that having a tooth out can lead to your other teeth moving over time, due to the gap in the line.
I’ll box that sucker out for one tenth of the price and ten times as fast.
Ah so this is the type of person that falls for the attic poop trick
Attic poop trick???
Hope to find it but: some anon was putting his poop up in his attic after another anon’s post about it being an easy way to get rid of it as it’ll just wither away (obviously a shit post)
