My pick is Five Finger Death Punch and the obvious answer is Ivan Moody. The guy radiates that alpha-male wannabe energy and it definitely rings through all of the songs he has written and performed with this band. The guy is just a prick and a self-victimizing asshole.

I think he’s the primary reason FFDP is mocked so badly.

When you see how insanely high some fines were the whole approach of punishing music piracy destroyed countless lives and cost a ton of people a lot of money. I think there was even prsion time for some. For something that doesn’t even hurt the Industry. People who participate in that shit are literal villains.

The fines were so out of proportion. It’s like I sit on your glasses and now i have to pay you $100k

Lostprophets. It should be obvious who and why.

I also think Guns’n Roses have soome fucking awesome riffs and songs, but I find Axl Rose to be an insufferable cunt of a diva. Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Adler should have released Appetite for Destruction with a different vocalist.

Axl Rose seems like a dick, but would it have been the same band without him? His really unusual voice is a lot of the appeal of the music imo

🎶Where do we go now🎶 … nowhere without Axl.

The epic tracks in use your illusion were mostly Axl, that could count for or against.

Two people I argue make that band - Axl and Slash.

Axl would have a hard time going with another guitarist if they weren’t Slash.

I’m thinking that without him, maybe the rest of the band didn’t have to be so drugged up to tolerate each other long term, perhaps keeping the original lineup for longer.

From my limited understand8ng of their formation history, GnR was the result of fusing members from LA Guns with some other band named something Hollywood Rose. Axl came from the latter.

The LA Guns vocalist was Tracii Guns who took part in forming GnR as a guitarist, but left shortly after and Slash took his place. I’m curious how things would’ve turned out if he’d remained as only a singer.

Interesting. I forgot about the fusing of those bands. I’ve never listened to LA Guns until just now… so, to my ear they sound like a lot of other bands like Dokken or Judas Priest. As a vocalist, I think Axl is far better. LA Guns doesn’t have a unique sound from what I can tell. Not terrible, I just feel like I’ve heard it before even though I don’t think I have.

I loved their first album, listened to it a lot. Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja and The Fake Sound of Progress are both amazing tracks. Unfortunately they’re both vocalized by a literal baby rapist, so it’s hard to rock out to them now. Asshole wrote the tracks too, so I doubt No Devotion will ever cover them.

As for Guns N’ Roses, a friend pointed out something that’s been living in my head for months now: Axl Rose is the Starscream of Guns N’ Roses.

Any “separate the art from the artist” argument falls apart when the pedo artist’s art is about the crime.

Wikipedia didn’t cover Russia in detail so I did some reading.

“The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation was illegal. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms”

“Also, the Russian invasion of Ukraine was not unprovoked, so I also condemn the provocateurs in the strongest possible terms”

          He calls Putin a gangster.

I think his opinions are naive. He identifies Western Propaganda but ignores the possibility that Putin is lying.

He seems to be consistently anti war though so I’m not going to burn my Pink Floyd collection … yet

He’s a complete edgelord and always has been, but that has always been a recipe for great art!

Along those same lines, Limp Bizkit because of Fred Durst. They still would have been pretty mid, but maybe I wouldn’t go out of my way to skip their songs when they sneak onto my playlists.

Indeed he did. Years ago, they were holding auditions in my area for a new guitarist after Wes Borland left. They asked people to demo stuff they had written, rather than try to play along with their current songs. After auditions wrapped, they didn’t pick anyone and life went on.

Cut to a few months later when their next album dropped. The local rock station that helped sponsor the audition starts getting numerous calls from people saying the material they demoed during the audition got incorporated into songs from the new album. No credit or compensation was given to any of them. From that point on, the radio station rightfully blacklisted them.

In case anyone doesn’t know, he tried to murder his (now ex) wife. As in, towel stuffed down her throat, his hands around her neck, and screaming, “I’ll kill you,” when the cops got there. And someone dropped the charges, for some fucking reason.

Guns N Roses. It amazes me that there are people who listen to them in purpose. I can’t stand them. But 90% of it is just because of Axl Rose. Slash is a great guitarist, and it’s a shame he’s drowned out by the sounds of a clown punching a cat.

This is death metal and black metal for me.

Badass instrumentals. Why the fuck is the vocalist a growling cookie monster? Can’t even comprehend a single fucking word he’s “singing” and yet the song somehow has lyrics. I can barely, BARELY tolerate Cannibal Corpse for the reason that I can comprehend the vocalist.

I’d be more likely to listen to AC/DC without Brian Johnson. He hasn’t done anything wrong (that I know of) and he’s a talented vocalist, but that rasping voice of his makes me wince every time I hear it. Does he gargle glass shards?
