  • Lol yes of course. At this point posting that is very akin to blaming me for how society exists in its current form, like that famous cartoon. “Curious, you participate in society yet disagree with it”

I have built my life around avoiding driving in the years since this incident for a million reasons, so you’re preaching to the choir.

  • How would you respond to going to your local grocery store and finding any non food product you’ve bought your entire life in grocery stores is either not available or isn’t half the time? That’s the kind of shit I’m seeing. Trust me, I know Amazon is mostly responsible for this. But life is already hard enough, I can’t spend all my time traversing town to buy basics. It’s an uphill battle I won’t win.

  • A lot of those items may as well not exist if Amazon is entirely off limits. I have tried what you’re suggesting, canceled prime and avoided Amazon for months. Ultimately I went back after having quite a bit of trouble.

You probably aren’t American, because if you were, you’d know that even pretty large (but smaller ) chains have often had to close. Years ago stores like bed bath and beyond closed in my area. Smaller stores than that stand even less of a chance.

How the hell are they supposed to keep up with increasing business costs when Amazon is completely eating their lunch? Another example – I was a big fan of radio shack. I liked buying there my electronics adapters, cables, and most things they sold, but that entire chain was destroyed. You don’t seem to understand this or that the mom and pop shops have an even tougher time staying in business, at least in many locales. I live in a medium city btw. I’m not in the middle of nowhere. Retail is all but dead here.

  • Yeah Jordan didn’t ever say “they didn’t cross the line today”, it was much worse than that. He pretended each comment and post stood on its own and that he had no way of knowing UM was a troll because he could make a pretend argument that in each case no rule was broken. It didn’t matter that UM broke the trolling rule every 10 minutes for many months because we cannot possibly just view their profile and see an OBVIOUS pattern that a large swath of the community noticed.

  • I wish I agreed. There are several products in the past couple years which I couldn’t find from any company that seemed at all reliable. I can give a recent example if you want.

After in the past literally waiting two months for items that never arrived and other weird experiences, easy seems pretty attractive. I wish at least some other companies could compete without being so goddamned shitty. Because yes, Amazon certainly is that.
