Do not visit the USA. Just don’t. Spend your money elsewhere for your sake and for our sake. It’s no good to anybody for you to spend it here right now.

Go visit Canada. Nice people, beautiful country this time of year. And they won’t disappear you. I know because the Canadians have always been our good friends. It’s very sad how they’ve been treated.

The Trump administration has set strict quotas for arresting anyone even suspected of being in the country illegally, with Stephen Miller ordering that 3,000 people be arrested every single day, or ICE officers will face consequences

    What the fuck

Quotas are supposed to be illegal for law enforcement, not that they care about rule of law, but should be another note for the second Nuremberg Trials.

Nazis. That’s what the fuck. It is all so “by the book”. That book was supposed to warm us away from stuff like this. But nazi rhetoric is being wielded so fiercely in 2025 that the rest of us are, justifiably, pretty confused.

So while that could 100% be real, the tweet source is a shady Nazi promoting rag, just to provide some context. It’s full of propaganda and fearbait even with a Hitler worship piece in their recent articles this year.

Nothing short of violent revolution will change anything in the states at this point. The courts are powerless, and the entire political system is rotten to the core.

Nope. The rulings coming out of the Federal courts (more often than not from Trump appointed judges) are unambiguous and the executive branch is largely complying with them once a ruling is handed down.

They are playing a game of legal brinkmanship in order to to try and circumvent the law (the whole dismiss-and-arrest thing happening at immigration courts - which are NOT full courthouses, btw), but don’t think for one second the Judges and attorneys working on these cases aren’t fully aware of what’s going on.

OP is 100% justified in calling for a violent revolution from outside. Let me tell you something most Americans don’t seem to know. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING the US government is doing right now to its own citizens is still not as bad as USA foreign policy. And people outside the US don’t even get a pretend vote.

Everyone on this planet should be calling for the total upheaval of not just the USA, but every nation state. Their very existence is the stupidest most destructive thing humanity could have ever done, leading into modern day capitalism.

So yeah, as usual, burgerbrains can’t comprehend anything outside of USA.

a whole lot of people in LA would disagree with that, and there’s a shitload of video

They were mostly peaceful. And when I say most, I mean like 99%. They know how to do it.

Also, this is what most of you are doing in this thread at me.

Once we isolate key people, we look for people we know are in their upstream – people that they read posts from, but who themselves are less influential. (This uses the same social media graph built before.) We then either start flame wars with bots to derail the conversations that are influencing influential people (think nonsense reddit posts about conspiracies that sound like Markov chains of nonsense other people have said), or else send off specific tasks for sockpuppets (changing this wording of an idea here; cause an ideological split there; etc).

The goal is to keep opinions we don’t want fragmented and from coalescing in to a single voice for long enough that the memes we do want can, at which points they’ve gotten a head start on going viral and tend to capture a larger-than-otherwise share of media attention.

(All of the stuff above is basically the “standard” for online PR (usually farmed out to an LLC with a generic name working for the marketing firm contracted by the big firm; deniability is a word frequently said), once you’re above a certain size.)

Until the last three days, I’ve actually been fairly optimistic.

While slow, the courts had acted to curb Donald’s worst abuses. The tariffs wreaked havoc, but we saw when the bond markets reacted that someone in his administration was able to make him see reason. (My own retirement has recovered its losses from February.) Elon Musk was finally being thrown out of the administration.

But here we are now, and this is genuinely scary stuff for absolutely everyone that isn’t independently wealthy. The reaction of California and the courts will dictate how things proceed. This isn’t the well-organized, institutionalized abuses of immigrants of Dubya, Obama and Biden. It’s the heavy-handed, sloppy, careless and unmitigated cruelty of the Gestapo.

And, for me, I just can’t get around the fact that this is probably happening because a meme hurt Donald’s ego.

Trump and Steven Miller escalated the situation because they needed to feel good about themselves after Elon fucked them both over. This is probably what they planned for the elections in 2026/28.

I’m not going to blame the voters for the Democrats’ decision to throw the election, personally. They knew Harris was unpopular with groups they needed to win swing states. They knew Biden was unpopular too. It was their decision to crown two weak candidates without a primary and state publicly and unequivocally that they wouldn’t change anything.

You can’t look at your own record as president, knowing full well your actions and willful inaction have made people significantly poorer, and reasonably conclude that the status quo is an acceptable campaign strategy.

I honestly don’t understand their intransigence in the face of a looming fascist threat unless they just didn’t care.

And judging by how Harris’ campaign raised billions and still ended up with $20,000,000 in debt, it’s clear they were spending like drunken sailors and having a wonderful time not running a serious campaign.

The key difference that your awful take misses is the difference between the center-right and conservatives. The center-right will support business and capital far more than it should and will drag its heels on things like worker’s rights but progress can be made. Conservatives, on the other hand, are angry, fear-driven morons who cause real, direct physical harm to people for he crime of being not who their deranged leaders prefer.

Centrists are worthless and their inaction leads to real consequences but it is the Conservatives’ action that makes them so especially violent and dangerous and as much as the centre-right does nothing they, ultimately, are not the ones causing the right to commit these atrocities. In other words, shut the fuck up, you aren’t helping.

You can get banned here for similar reasons as you’d get banned from things on Reddit. In theory the federated setup helps to mitigate it somewhat, in that if you get banned from your primary instance you can hop over to one that’s a bit more agreeable to your perspective and continue on.

For example, I was recently banned from LGBTQ+ on, I think the world server, cause I posted a fairly benign straight opinion to a post that had an image basically asking for cis commentary. It had like 5-7 upvotes, about 13-15 down votes at the time the mods kicked me out – so even amongst the community it was a bit wishy washy, but the mods still opted to take action. On Reddit, that might’ve gotten me flagged / banned site-wide, depending on which White House narrative the company is marching to on that day. Here I just lose access to the LGBTQ+ community, shrug at them echo chambering up, and continue about my day.

In terms of “Why do we only control the speech of leftists”, I imagine it’s because the threads you continue to access are left leaning – meaning those left in your bubbles, are the left-leaning sorts saying they’d been banned. Right leaning comments, and even (in my view) some centrist / neutral comments, still get people banned. These days we all basically have to assume that there are companies / algorithms creating bubbles in online spaces; you need to temper it with a good bit of secondary sources outside of ‘social media’ to get a more accurate picture of people’s mindsets/trends. Eg. Social Media + direct views of national/local news paper sites + in person discussion with various sorts.

It’s a lot easier to get away with killing people if you use a car. They might even blame the victim (or recently, their parents).
