Why are all these people criticizing Elmo on Xhitter of all places and maybe paying him for a stupid blue check mark. It really takes away from the impact of anything they say regarding him.

Sorry boss. I don’t have time to check my emails. It doesn’t count as production, remember?

I appreciate a politician that’s not willing to pretend they’re powerless, like most of the Democrats in Washington.

That’s the point. Burn them out, make them stressed, make them afraid. Make as many leave on their own accord to avoid paying severance, then make others resign voluntarily on an empty promise of getting money for it. Finally, start filling their seats with cronies, sycophants, and loyal yes-men.

It is absolutely intended to make people fear for their jobs by sending a request outside working hours with an unrealistic deadline. Not all federal employees are even working on Monday. Some have schedules that don’t include Monday, some will be out sick, and others will be on vacation.

For all hourly workers even checking their email when they are scheduled off is against the rules of their employment because it is considered working off the clock.

Holy shit, this is actually even dumber than it is malicious. Sending a mass email on a weekend and expecting people to work outside of their scheduled working hours, when some of the people will be scheduled off, out sick, or not even scheduled to work on those days is just stupid. Like anyone who has actually worked a job would realize how fucking stupid that expectation is. It is the arrogance of someone who has always bought their way into a position at a job and puts work over their family logic.

The reason this matters is that a significant number of people who are supposed to be working for the government are doing so little work that they are not checking their email at all!

In some cases, we believe non-existent people or the identities of dead people are being used…

      — Elon Musk

There are ways to verify that they are living, like maybe checking to see if the Social Security office has a record of their death?

This is like his stupid one car death trap version of a subway.

It’s only stupid if you think it’s being done in good faith. As a trap, to be used as a pretext to manufacture cause to fire people, sending it on the weekend makes perfect sense.

It’s the same reason Trump picked Friday night to purge the military leadership and install regime loyalists – when authoritarians do things like that, it’s because they want people to fail to pay attention.

Hardly anything Trump or Musk have been doing is “stupid” measured by what their real goals actually are, as opposed to naively believing what they claim them to be.

No, it can be both stupid and not in good faith. If it wasn’t stupid, they would have done it during a weekday so they didn’t look like morons who don’t understand what a weekend is. This isn’t like firing on a Friday to avoid the news cycle. This is something that was obviously going to backfire on Musk.

If they didn’t want to look like idiots they would have done it on a Wednesday so people would be panicking about getting it done before the weekend and the general populace would have seen it as government workers not checking email for two working days. The timing they picked was guaranteed failure from the moment they pushed send on a Saturday.

Idk why, I just had this idea that US senators wouldn’t swear online. Not that I have any problem with it.

Not here to defend Musk and DOGE, but asking an employee to produce 5 bullet points about what they’ve been up to is a very low bar to beat.

So, how many emails and replies is that? Who’s going to read them all? Sounds like a job for AI. Just have it write a long detailed reply that doesn’t have to be at all in touch with reality.
