I would also mention the Mars trilogy

Can I see some evidence for that, please? Like, a peer reviewed study?

Who was the sample of ‘people’?
-
What is the distinction between different plants? Like, just kitchen fruits and vegetables I’d expect to be much more than 10, unless you group them all in ‘drupes’, ‘fruits’, etc
-
Even if a random distributed sample of modern English speaking people do recognise more logos than plants, that’s likely because there’s a large advertising industry trying to make it so, whereas plant recognition is learnt in school or home.

JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Harry Potter@literature.cafe•What's your favourite wand design? Any you imagined differently?English4·12 days agoHonestly when reading the book I imagined them all as blank sticks. Maybe that’s just me, but nothing seemed to suggest they had fancy handles or anything.
That’s why HPMoR felt like a breath of fresh air to me, he’s actually intelligent in it, even if it’s only fanfiction.
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Harry Potter@literature.cafe•What are other fantasy series similar to Harry Potter but by authors who are not actively attacking trans rights?English13·13 days agoIt’s not a religious belief, lol. It actually makes sense, if you understand AI. If you don’t, you could try watching the YouTube channel Robert Miles to learn more about the science of this.

JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Harry Potter@literature.cafe•J.K. Rowling uses Harry Potter wealth to fund anti-transgender organizationEnglish31·13 days agoI think she actually believes trans people are a danger to society, that’s the only way that makes sense with her actions. It’s sad though. I’m not sure if we can convince her otherwise, she seems quite entrenched. If we could though, she could be quite an influential advocate for trans rights.

JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Harry Potter@literature.cafe•What are other fantasy series similar to Harry Potter but by authors who are not actively attacking trans rights?English410·13 days agoOmg, can you stop with this? I want to be able to enjoy the series without constantly people reminding me how bad the author is. I know. I’m not giving her money.
Anyway, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, His Dark Materials, Percy Jackson
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Harry Potter@literature.cafe•J.K. Rowling is personally funding attacks on trans women’s rights with her Harry Potter moneyEnglish3·13 days agoJK Rowling is a horrible person, but is this community just turning into a ‘dunk on JK Rowling’ community?
JackGreenEarth@lemm.eeto Technology@lemmy.world•I'm looking for an article showing that LLMs don't know how they work internallyEnglish224·14 days agoBy design, they don’t know how they work. It’s interesting to see this experimentally proven, but it was already known. In the same way the predictive text function on your phone keyboard doesn’t know how it works.

Oh, sorry, my comment could have implied the first part was related to the second. No, that was just me being annoying and pedantic, the second part was my actual concern of not feeding into the ‘gay people are turning your kids gay’ propaganda
