I also love that they didn’t give her “boob armour”. She was one of the most interesting characters on the show, and her own views of femininity probably fed into her character’s struggles with it.

I also think Tormund being obsessed with her was great. Her whole life she’d been mocked for being too tall and not feminine enough, then along comes this wild man who is completely obsessed with her just the way she is. But, I’m glad they didn’t do the easy thing and just make her fall for him, and then the two live happily ever after.

It’s Brigitte Nielsen vs. Flava Flav.

I’m afab and the same height as her. It doesn’t matter if I have long hair, long nails and wear a dress, a flowery jacket or the complete opposite. Some people will asume I’m a guy… Which doesn’t matter to me anymore I think I’d actually make for a good looking man, and I’ve always liked the androgynous look … I also think of myself more on the nb spectrum now. However, growing up was rough, took a long while to realize where I was in the gender spectrum and it has made me empathize so hard with my trans sisters, 'cause something as simple as using the bathroom can be so fucking uncomfortable, to say the least/women only spaces feel foreign to me sometimes. Lucky for me I have never felt in danger but with the trans awareness (in my country) and hostility growing, it never escapes the back of my mind that some of that hate might get to me.

As an AMAB them-fatale who found out they had male pattern baldness the day they came out, I, uh, I needed to hear this. 😭 EDIT: I really do appreciate the ideas and help, everyone, but I think we all misunderstood the assignment given the quote: “…femininity doesn’t have to come from hair or any of those traditional female archetypes of appearance…” 😂 Thank you all though, I have happy tears reading your replies.

I don’t know what your plans are, and I don’t want to give you false hope, but if you’re otherwise planning on taking hormones as part of your journey, you may find as others have that blocking testosterone, especially early into thinning, can reverse thinning. Because it’s actually a testosterone problem.

But! There are lots of other side effects of this, so if it wasn’t part of your plan, then nevermind!

And importantly, I’m sure you’re lovely just the way you are, but I figured I’d mention it in case it’s relevant.

Yeah, as a straight man who is generally attracted to more feminine features, there’s a number of bald women I’ve find who rock the look and look amazing. Pretending like you’re not balding is also one of the ugliest looks you can have. You know you are, and so does everyone else. You just have to accept it and make the best out of it, not fight it. This may mean wigs, or going bald, or both. The “comb my hair to try to hide it” look has tricked literally nobody and generally just looks like you haven’t come to terms with it yet (which is fair, just not a good look).

      My pal, that sucks!

As it happens male pattern baldness is not exclusive to men. Female pattern hair loss is also a thing, AND they make all kinds of very neat wigs for women. There’s all kinds of options out there.

    I’ve become bitter, but…

… given our current examples of IRL men being masculine (Donald Trump, Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro and Joe Rogan…

…and, in SoIaF, masculinity as Joffrey Baratheon perceives masculinity, and Gregor Clegane is seen as a paragon of masculinity…

Having human decency, or character integrity are feminine, or at least the opposite of masculine.

There are plenty of guys that have these features (though considering the gender breakdown of the 2024 general election, many that do not), but I wouldn’t attribute them to what makes these guys men, rather what makes them mature or adults.

Just as truth and facts are left-leaning, maturity and character are feminine-leaning. It is why I am no longer a man (though I don’t take offense at he, him pronouns).

Thanks for sparing enough attention to comment.

Personally, I would be too distressed by the genocide happening in the same county[sic] as me to post a pointless comment on this on content that wasn’t personally directed at me. But you must be made of different stuff than regular Joes.

What am I supposed to do? I’m trying to work with groups in my area to affect things locally and ringing the alarm bell for anyone that’ll listen. Which isn’t many, but I’m at least forcing people around me to confront the reality of what’s happening, even if they mostly freak out and refuse to talk about it

Should I be making a martyr of myself right this moment?
