Trump has been making Canada out to be a dangerous place with a weak border but too many Canadians are victims of gun violence. Our government officials and media need to start reporting each time American guns are being used in crime. What do you think?
Spoiler, it’s nearly every time but pointing it out ruins the narrative that ALL guns are a problem.
I think we have bigger things to worry about.
We could prove decisively in front of the world that there is much, much more fentanyl coming in to Canada from the US than the other way around (we have), we could broadcast films of guns confiscated with both Canadian and US border guards testifying to the reality (we’ve done that, too), we could counter every single lie with proof of the truth and it would not matter one bit, because those who are going to believe us already do, and those who say they don’t really mean that whatever the Emperor says he’s wearing, he is wearing, whether I can see it or not.
Mr. Trump and his rich sponsors want our resources, our water, our surrender and our country for their own. They will keep at this until either they are overthrown or we beat them in a genuine war, or climate change makes the whole point moot by killing so many of us off that the survivors are left to eat each other.
Read up on Joseph Goebbels’ principles of propaganda. You will recognise them all.

We’ll never reach the die-hard Trump supporters, true, but it’s possible that some Canadians could be swayed by the firehose of misinformation coming from the American side and we need to counter that whenever we can.
New people become politically aware every day. There are some messages that are worth repeating to make sure the newly interested individuals are aware.
With all these tariffs there are going to be many, many previously politically apathetic individuals becoming politically aware trying to understand what is happening. Don’t let the propaganda go unchallenged. The messages need to be refreshed and updated to reflect current reality. Or, just let them win or whatever. Up to you guys I guess.
Tell you what: if you really think it matters, then by all means, make it your mission. But our problem isn’t Canadians not knowing the truth, is it – hell, astonishing as it may be, the Canadian media have done a pretty good job of refuting the egregious BS coming up on the southern wind. Our problem is that we are outnumbered and outgunned by lunatics willing to blow up the world just so they can rule the ruins, and I am no longer willing to waste my breathe on being reasonable.
This is the government that banned semi-automatic firearms for licenced citizens even though the gun violence is almost exclusively committed with smuggled firearms from the US.
I don’t think they want to draw attention to that distinction because it undermines their political assault on lawful ownership of firearms in Canada.
The problems with mass shootings are stem from psychological problems. These problem stem from a culture that normalized posting photos on facebook posing with firearms. The point of these posts is to appear intimidating which associates firearms with power over others. This puts people that engage in this behavior one bad day from going on a killing spree.
So firearms need to be regulated similarly to tobacco. We don’t want tacticool firearms for people to pose with on facebook, which starts them down a dark path. Ideally firearms should be lame looking, and not have the capability of killing large numbers of people. Many weapons aren’t suitable for hunting, but pose a significant danger if used for killing sprees have been banned.
We aren’t Americans and we consider the rights of everyone, not just the rights of people that want to have guns to intimidate others on facebook, which is a sign of psychological problem, and have had demonstrated horrible results.
And yeah, guns get across the border. This is also illegal, so not sure why you’re trying to make a point about it being somehow hypocritical to have both owning weapons suited for mass killings be illegal while smuggling guns is also illegal.
If you don’t like it, go move to the US and have your kids go to schools where they need to do mass shooting drills. I don’t want to live that way in Canada for the sake of your hobbies.
The country that is the world champion in school shootings doesn’t have much credibility when pointing the finger at others.
Rather than introducing sensible gun laws, they’d rather try to paint someone else as the villain.
While what you are suggesting is useful information no one outside the US needs to know it. We already know they are throwing stones from their glass house. Anyone inside America won’t believe it.
Also make sure to highlight any and all violent crime committed by Americans.
