This is a pretty weird move and I doubt it’ll stick, but FWIW O’Hickey’s really is a great little spot. Go on a weekend evening and enjoy some absolutely banging live music and a really great vibe. It’s the kind of classic East Coast hangout where someone will start a round of Barrett’s Privateers and everyone in the place will sing along.

Bravo! Come to think of it, maybe we should all be going back to cash, since digital payments are also a vector for data harvesting by those corporations.

How Interac e-transfers for your booze!

Sidenote: We do need a Canadian option for card-based network transactions. Banking and financial services is something CanadaPost could take charge of to become profitable, instead of laying off workers…

Did the pub not accept interac? Out here in Vancouver interac is everywhere and some vendors even refuse to take VISA/MC due to the high transaction levies.

Wow how brave of them to reduce their operating expenses in protest. Truly inspiring.

Plus, cash doesn’t leave a paper trail. Though I’m sure this pub will accurately report their sales! /s

If you think any business that takes debit and credit has not cooked their books I have a bridge to sell you.
