Economic collapse? Sure, but for a new housing crisis we don’t have enough home owners… How about a nice cost-of-living crisis instead? Or perhaps the good old rent-rising, salaries-stagnation crisis?
Almost certainly an economic one. Most of our “economy” (stock value, but the media and owners treat this as if it’s the economy) is tied up in just a few companies, and all of those company’s value are most AI. I’m reasonably confident there will be an AI crash, which will tank stock values and everyone with investments in these companies.
I’m not so sure if there will be a housing market collapse.
The writers of Earth have really given up. They kept implying some cool sci fi universe flip but it’s just cyberpunk dystopia with repeating plot lines.
The American plot line didn’t work out. They were not that popular with the main audience and seen as too loud and obnoxious. The story is moving focus to Asia. It was a major influence of cyberpunk after all.
