English is not my primary language. The publications on Lemmy are almost all in English. Often, I need to translate a sentence or two that I don’t understand. I suggest that developers create an icon that makes it possible to translate posts with just a single click - that is, without any invasive extensions, let alone Google translator.
It would make a lot more sense for you to use a translator extension like Mate translator or something.
I also think this would be best as a browser extension, I don’t know if there are any good open source in-place translators tho. But bundling a universal translator into lemmy would make it way too bloated.
Closed source.
well, okay, true, but still, that would be a really complicated thing for Lemmy devs to do. it would make a lot more sense to help create an extension that works like mate but that is libre rather than this
Quizás alguna integración con LibreTranslate?
Sorry, I understand that you speak Spanish because of your name.
He may be brazilian
Sim, sou brasileiro.
Oh, the same name apply? I didn’t know.
I know there are similarities with Spanish in names but don’t know which of them are exactly the same.
Thank you for pointing me to it.

I consider this related: https://lemmy.ml/post/42371
I think this is a good idea, and it should be relatively easy to add once language tagging for posts is added to Lemmy. There are some different open source projects for translation, so it would be a matter of picking one, and running it in a Docker container next to Lemmy.
Sure, an icon will do the job. Coding is done.
You don’t need to be painful with people not familiar with this.
