    Someone just asked me the other day to provide evidence for my opinion that Musk was quickly going to pivot from “Mars” to ICBMs.

    It was just an opinion but I guess I have my evidence now.

    No one wins a nuclear war. But also, this seems like a pipe dream. Israel’s Iron Dome is protecting a country the size of New Jersey against relatively unsophisticated missiles. I’m sure the Pentagon would love an American Iron Dome that can stop ICBMs but it would probably cost more than the entire world’s GDP just to cover the West Coast. And then it’d probably be obsolete before it was ever finished.

      ICBM defense especially for the US would have to be fundamentally different than the Iron Dome. Fewer emplacements covering a much larger area and capable of much greater target specificity. Of course it’d be obsolete at deployment and then you could update it as able.
