Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau quietly defied mounting calls for his resignation on Monday, asking Dominic LeBlanc to serve as finance minister after Chrystia Freeland resigned from the post with a scathing letter that sounded the alarm about U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s threat to impose economically devastating tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

Trudeau is unpopular with much of the electorate. Optimists within the Liberal party hope the party will do better in the next election if he resigns and is replaced with somebody else.
It seems Trudeau can’t even convince his own party that his ideas are good. Resigning and allowing another party member with more popular ideas to take on the Prime Minister role and put forward a new plan of action could help prevent a no-confidence vote and landslide Conservative victory.
I’m left of centre, but there is nothing that’s going to prevent this hell from happening. We are doomed. It’s the same predictable cycle we’ve seen in Canada over and over. Let’s hope PP is in power for only one term and not hang on like freakin evil Harper.

Whatever happens in Canada we hope to fuck it leads to Trudeau stepping down because polling shows an impossible fight if he’s the liberal preference for the next prime minister.
