Summary

Trend underlines vast gender divide as election approaches, as experts say some women face pressure to ‘toe the line’ politically at home.

A TikTok trend of women “canceling out” their partners’ votes highlights a gender divide in the 2024 election, with many young women supporting Kamala Harris while their male partners back Trump. Campaigns encourage women, especially those in conservative households, to vote independently, emphasizing privacy through ads featuring voices like Michelle Obama and Liz Cheney. Conservatives like Charlie Kirk and Jesse Watters criticize these efforts, claiming they undermine family values.

You want to know why Republicans did a hard course change on mail in voting for 2024?

THIS is why. The husband can ensure the wife fills out her ballot “correctly” in the comfort of their own home, instead of the wife filling it out as she sees fit at the polling station.

“Oh, I’m sorry honey! I’ve got plans to be out with the boys guarding the polling station on election day; you’ll have to stay home and take care of the children. Maybe you can vote next time….”

“Babe… what are you DOING here? It’s not safe to bring the kids to the polling station! What happens if some illegal immigrant starts shooting? Get them out of here IMMEDIATELY!”

Here in Sweden, you can change your vote even if it is mailed in.

If you vote in person on election day, your earlier vote won’t be counted

You can do that in the US*. My ex had to do it when her dad stole her ballot in 2016 and voted for Trump.

We got the last laugh, though. He was a massive anti masker and then died of COVID. Wasn’t really that funny though…just sad all around.

*Edit to add - some places in the US

Just another reason why Sweden is - on balance - a really great country.
