Damn, I was visiting Calgary last week and I remarked there was a bit of snow left by the Bow River, and everywhere else it was gone. Temps were like 15-20°C.

The snow there probably radioed in for backup reinforcement.

Winters not over until the parking lot mountains are gone. That was above seasonal temps, but it happens frequently as well. Average say being 12 when the temp can be 0-24 for a high…

Interestingly it’s not below freezing so I don’t think that’s possible. Most of this will be melted by the end of the day, especially when it turns to rain.

I kinda miss our winters around here. I’m def south of you, but we used to have Winter from Oct to May. Now, sometimes it doesn’t feel like Winter except for a week or two around the end of Jan.

70s and 80s are June temps! Not for freaking February! Well, not this year, pal
        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We live in a very strange climate, we have a rather unique weather phenomenon where the temps can swing 40 Celsius during the day.

          Chinooks

So it’s not unheard of to also not have snow on Christmas and it be 20c either. It’s not entirely climate change, but it will make the swings larger for us.

Edit, they also come with gusts of wind above 100km/h too.

            Ah! Like an “Alberta clipper

I mean, not just like, but, turns out, they’re related. Thanks, Alberta. 😋

The chinook which in part originates the Alberta clipper usually brings relatively warm weather (often approaching 10 °C/50 °F in the depths of winter) to southern Alberta itself, and the term is therefore not used in Alberta.

Likewise! And for the record, I love our friendly neighbors to the north! Everyone I’ve met from Canada has been so nice and polite.

And plus, it’s where The Nylons are from, so I would basically love Canada through the transitive property anyway.

Yep, roll the dice on May 24 and hope they don’t get crushed by 50 pounds of bloody snow. If there’s snow in the forecast. Yard work and planting the next weekend.

I love winter sports and activities, and it still gets to high 30s during the summer, which is too hot ughh.

The shorter growing season sucks, but I can always build a greenhouse to help that along.

The starts are enjoying the view.

Yarp, can’t complain you much about the aero. The only thing I wish is I could have gotten the rest of the yard raked and mowed and overseeded. The snow and water would have been fantastic for it to get started.

I got the yard raked, maybe I should overseed if it melts during the day before the next snow.

I also think I got less snow than you.

Yeah I think my yards a write off for the next few days. I may get some lumber and build up the garden bed though, that’s doable in this.

Don’t doubt that, lots of microclimates across the city. My buddy has 1 foot tall plants already.
