Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday condemned recent violence as unacceptable after shots were fired at two Jewish schools in Montreal overnight and clashes between students at a university in the same city late on Wednesday.
In Toronto, police have reported hate crimes against Jews and Muslims had more than doubled the tally for all of 2022 in the three weeks after the initial Hamas attack on Oct. 7.
So quick to condemn a few shots fired at a school … yet have a hard time saying anything significant about 10,000 people being killed and continue to be killed on a daily basis.
I’m not a supporter of Israel or Palestine, they all have a role to play in this conflict … but in a supposed modern world where we are supposed to be more enlightened and informed … we are acting no differently than our ancient ancestors a thousand years ago who believed that if we kill enough people, problems can be solved.
I mean one of these is within Canada. I think a PM speaking against violence within Canadian borders isn’t the same as him commenting on him violence internationally.
The violence that happened in Montreal is a direct consequence of what is happening in Palestine right now … the fact that Canada and US are not actively working towards putting a stop to the fighting will mean that more violence will spill over in many other parts of the world, including Canada.
The world should be putting enormous pressure on everyone involved in this conflict to put a stop to the fighting and force everyone to sit down and negotiate … instead the world’s most powerful countries are more willing to pour billions into a war machine rather than spend millions on peaceful resolutions.
As much as I agree, Hamas isn’t interested in negotiation, they want to convert the entire world to Islam.
Regardless of that, Israel should stop bombing hospitals, ambulances, and refugee camps, even if they think they contain members of Hamas, because it makes them terrorists as well.
