One of the first rides I did to test my setup before my first small cycle-tour was to the local reservoir! It’s interesting to see the intersection between nature and human infrastructure.

Urban cycling is my fav too, it’s really the best way to explore a city!
There’s apparently a plan for a rail-to-trail which would directly connect my city and the beach, which despite progressing at a snail’s pace has me really excited! It would be along some rivers and creeks in the forest, which I always dig.
Currently, the options are either the highway (which I avoid unless at night because at least it has a shoulder) or the old route, which doesn’t have shoulders but doesn’t have too much traffic either, and most drivers are respectful. It’s a quite gorgeous ride too, going through fields and farmland. No lights and no shoulder are why I opt for the highway at night, though!
I do love me a ride to the beach! The nearest one to me is about 20 or so kilometres which makes it a perfect little day ride with a stop to a beach-side restaurant I really like!
True, you can never go wrong with a food or beverage stop on a bike ride! Some of my best cycling memories are bicycle bar crawls with good friends on nice summer days.
I mostly just like biking around my town and the surrounding local areas, whether it be on trails or on the road. My bike (a hybrid) is, in typical hybrid fashion, kind of inadequate either way. But that’s part of what makes it fun!
I’d love to try proper downhill mountain biking someday though, it looks like a blast. I got real hooked on some MTB content on YouTube a while ago and it seems like such a nice community, too.
I think you’re overestimating the tech savvyness of the average person :P
I live in a province with a large amount of old covered bridges (including the world’s longest) and those are always a highlight of any ride for me.
Another thing I love is going down local ATV trails (even though my cheap hybrid bike is not made for those conditions). I’ve seen a ton of cool stuff riding through those.
Paragraph 4.5 of Google Play’s Developer Distribution Agreement is a rather large barrier. I’ll paste it here:
4.5 You may not use Google Play to distribute or make available any Product that has a purpose that facilitates the distribution of software applications and games for use on Android devices outside of Google Play.
I’d wager the majority of Android users have never downloaded an application other than from the Google Play Store. Even among those who would try, a large amount of them would probably get scared off by the “unverified sources” popup Android gives you if you try to install an app in another manner.

E-bikes make cycling more accessible (old people, certain disabilities) and that’s something we should strive for. I don’t care to own one myself, but I do like the idea of still being able to cycle when I’m old and my knees are shot.

You almost never hear someone tell a good joke about steaks. It really is a rare medium well done.
I knew a fortune teller, she was rather short but she told me a great joke about steak. Unfortunately, she went missing a while ago and no one knows where she is.
She’s just a small medium at large now.

While I agree that framing the Proton CEO as an evil Nazi lapdog is a bit much, here’s a comment I saw on Lemmy another time this was discussed that explains why the article is flawed better than I could.
One of the first times I was stoned in public was at a high school hockey game. It was the local French school versus the local English school, so a couple of cops were there because there were often fights that broke out. Also there was every single person I knew from high school. I remember trying to explain how offsides work to this girl I ended up dating for two years after graduating.
When I asked her about it years afterwards, she said she still didn’t understand offsides, but she also didn’t realize I was high, so that’s a win I guess.

Seeing someone else learn something can be useful, and there’s a lot of little things in the video one can pick up on to avoid common mistakes.

Part of me gets where they’re coming from, I think it’s definitely a thing where some inexperienced cyclists on e-bikes ride dangerously at high speeds without having the cycling experience and technique to ride that fast.
However, just like I’ve had bad interactions with people on e-bikes, I’ve had bad interactions with roadies, people on BMX, cycle commuters, mountain bikers… I’ve also had super positive interactions with all of these groups. Generalizing e-bike riders as a whole based on the acts of a small number of people is silly and counter-productive. The more people ride bikes, the more cities have no choice but to accommodate them, which makes things better for everyone.
