The problem is, we’re not speaking generally. We’re talking about the BC MVA, which sets out specific definitions for terms (e.g. “vehicle”) and then specifies both allowances and prohibitions for how objects like “vehicles” can operate on public roads and such.

The article suggests there’s a consensus that EUCs don’t fit within a permitted category under the MVA, so the rule of leniety doesn’t come into play.

I will add that many of us who work remotely using publicly accessible wifi also use VPNs, and Imgur actively blocks IPs from multiple commercial VPN providers. If you want those users to see the image you’re sharing, Imgur is not the way to go.

They haven’t said why. I’m assuming that federation with outside entities would present some logistical problems for them w/r/t their privacy obligations in Europe. If that’s right, I suspect the whole ActivityPub thing could be “delayed” indefinitely.

They previously announced that they would federate with ActivityPub, but yesterday we learned that it won’t happen for “three months.” With all the European regulatory issues and other factors, I’ll bet it will be a lot longer than that. In fact, I’d be surprised if we ever see full federation capability.

I scorned the Independent when they reported a few weeks ago that Trump would be indicted “tomorrow.” None of the usual journalists in the know confirmed, and plenty of reasonably reliable experts cast doubt on it. And then the next day came, and lo and behold, the indictment was issued.

All this to say, I don’t take the report as gospel, but I take it seriously.

Yeah, I posted that to [email protected] from my lemmy.ca account. I figured that if the admins aren’t answering questions via Matrix or whatever, maybe someone there would have an answer. (So far, nothing more than the same kind of speculation that’s happening here.)

Tusky is best for those who are newer to Mastodon. Visually it’s very clean, straightforward to use, and largely free of bugs (it helps to have been around for so many years).

For users more familiar with Mastodon, I’d go with Fedilab. Despite a few bugs, it’s the most customizable option, with so many features you can tweak to your own tastes.

So in this case, that does mean that someone with a Lemmy account who is subscribed (from that account) to Kbin magazines will be able to see the latter within the app, right? One wouldn’t be able to login to Kbin, but could view Kbin content from their Lemmy account?

Let’s not turn on other users when Reddit is the actual problem. Show them that there’s something better being built over here.

Lemmy federates with Kbin, so yeah, it can access the same content for sure. I just mean that, given the length of time Lemmy has been around, there was an existing community of regulars who were already posting heavily on Lemmy servers by the time Kbin started taking off. But yeah, thanks to federation, it doesn’t really matter where the content is originally shared as long as Lemmy and Kbin can both access it.

Yeah, this is just bizarre. I posted about this a few days ago, before Monday’s statement and the calls to resign. I’d seen she was blaming “health issues,” but no way did I expect her to take a taxpayer-funded vacation, where she’s probably spending even more time trolling on Twitter.

And of course she was a COVID denialist, too.

I feel like the UI for Kbin is cleaner, though not without its problems. And I can access Lemmy communities from Kbin as well (this works a lot better than I expected it would), so I’m not really missing out if I choose it over Lemmy.

I’m also giving an answer to the other thread on Lemmy, since I think there are good reasons to use that one as well. They’re both solid, and I’m using both regularly–often viewing posts from one service on the other. For me, it’s “yes AND,” not “no BUT.”

I feel like Lemmy has more content, probably because it’s been around longer, so it’s a good base to build from.
