To set the scene, I think it was right for Carr to move on at the end of last season for everyone and the roster we’ve buit on the back of him, Waller moving etc. reliant upon that occurring.
However, seeing the good vibe in the locker room I would have loved to have seen Adams with Carr under AP and how that would have worked.
It might not have won a SB but reckon it could have been a fun season that was made you excited to watch the team.
I hear what you are saying, butCarr had pro bowl receivers and still couldn’t get it done.
With Carr we would still have Josh at HC. Jimmy devovlinginto the worst qb in the nfl is what ultimately got Josh canned.
The vibes would be so much worse and I doubt the team would be playing with as much emotion as we are now.
Plus we would still be dealing with the Carr wars and Carrs own problems as a QB. Probably don’t have the same supporting cast because of the money Carr would be owed as well
I think we got the best possible outcome tbh. Even if Aiden ain’t it we can draft a R1 QB.
Much better place to be in as of this specific moment imo.
I agree with most of this but can y’all stop with the money thing? The only difference would be Meyers. We didnt actually save a lot of money.
But losing Carr so McDaniels no longer had a scapegoat was worth it.
To be fair, Meyers has been a fuckin stud this season.
But you’re right on the scapegoat part.
Can we stop with these Carr posts? What’s the point?
We’ve gotten rid of the bad coach and now we get to see what AOC can do.
I for one am glad we moved on from Carr, but I agree there are too many posts about him
What the point in any of these tho tbf.
It’s the Carr fan boys need to let it go. He’s gone, team is looking good.
Idk man, you seem pretty triggered about Carr yourself lol
I was thinking about this last week, but more so if Carr would’ve been ripping cigs in the locker room with the boys.
Look Mcdaniels never should’ve gotten hired. The minute he got hired Carr was screwed and us fans were screwed after a crazy season that we managed to make the playoffs with Rich. Mcdaniels wasted time
The TD to Mayer- Carr doesn’t even attempt that throw.
- It’s off schedule and he’d be looking for a RB in the flat there.
and
- It’s a pass into the end zone. I am still not convinced Carr knows passing into the end zone is legal.
He moved on after the Raiders had moved on from him. Carr only tried his best. He was never an elite QB, but you don’t get ride of a QB until you have a better one.
The Raiders didn’t and it’s going to bit us in the ass. Only miss what you had until it’s gone, or however, Carr’s consistency is missed. Maybe overpaid in some seasons, but the Raiders are worse off without him. FaxIzFax
Accept the reality that Carr is no longer on the team. But Once a Raider, always a Raider. Sometime after he retires, Mark will have him back along with other alumni and probably light the torch. So can we move on and remember the words of Al Davis - “The greatness of the Raiders lies in their future.”
Carr is not good. He has zero vision and is afraid to throw or stand in the pocket and take a hit.
One could only wish. Would’ve definitely been a show
I wish Carr was our QB. And I wish Madden was our coach. And I wish Richie B was assistant to the regional coach. And I wish I had $20. And I wish I could put that $20 down on a 100,000:1 sure thing. And I wish and I wish and I wish and I wish and I wish and I wish and I wish…
#SHUT THE FUCK UP.
We have the sauce back. Accept the sauce. Get out of dream world and root for what we got.
I mean this is the best defense we’ve had. If Carr couldn’t win a couple playoff games with this, we would have spent the off-season offloading players again to pay for Carr.
Right now all we have to do is get rid of the Jimmy G contract and we can pay JJ etc.
Champ Bailey with the best cap situation a Raiders GM has had in decades if AOC works out
I think with a decent coach, we were a playoff team last year, and might be looking to build on it this year and really be a contender.
Carr is a better option than what we have right now. But I think it was time. McDaniels obviously sucked ass but we saw Derek Carr be ultra-mid for several seasons. Go take a look at the Saints sub right now. They’re going through the stages of Carr debate as we speak.
Agreed. He was at his ceiling. They should have just rode with Stidham this year with an eye on drafting a QB in the deeper pool this year since it was too costly to move up to get Young or Stroud last year. Now we’re stuck with Jimmy G as a back up or releasing and having a big dead cap hit. Either way, should draft a QB this spring even if AOC plays great as need competition and it’s a deep QB pool so good options will be available even without a top pick and some decent ones in 2nd and 3rd round if there’s another position need we can’t pass up in the first.
So funny to me how they are literally torn at the seams just like raiders fans when it comes to Carr. Happy to not have that issue anymore.
Personally so happy Carr is gone. All those 3 and outs was part of the reason our defense was so bad. The 1st year he’s gone we all of a sudden have a better D just like I thought.
Anyone pining for Carr hasn’t watched him repeat all the same issues in NO. It was long past time to move on and look for greener pastures.
The reason for those 3 and outs is because he has no clue wtf to do in those moments and throws the ball away to protect his TD:INT ratio and QB rating. I wish people would acknowledge this more.
The best is when you see dudes in r/nfl or r/saints still defending him. Telling saints fans they’re not being appreciative of what he can do 😂😂😂
I will say that /r/Saints sub isn’t as delusional for a several reasons. There are definitely some crazies like you mentioned, but nowhere close to how bad it is here.
-
He wasn’t drafted there so there isn’t that much “home grown” love.
-
Lack of Fresno alumni fans (many of them happened to be Raiders fan due to proximity to Oakland who love him to death)
-
They don’t have a “great year” with Carr that the fanbase is fixated with
-
They actually have recent memory of what a HoF QB is supposed to play like
-
They already saw how a middling QB plays with Dalton last year and have a reference point of what average QB play is like so they don’t get easily enthralled with it unlike Raiders fans who have seen trash for nearly 20 years
Oh yeah, should have specified that it’s hilarious to see the common r/raiders Stans go into the saints subreddit or still cape for him in nfl
But all your points are incredibly cogent, especially 4 & 5.
