Cats have individual preferences so it varies, but they definitely don’t categorically hate the smell or taste and there’s absolutely no scientific evidence to indicate that cannabinoids are harmful to them. Inhaling smoke isn’t good for anything with lungs, but edibles & tinctures exist and completely bypass the issue.

My cousin’s cat Mookie would follow the joint from lap to lap till she fell asleep.
The gorgeous long hair stray Rafiki who would hang out on my friends shed would get up and leave if we smoked in the back yard.
