Hate ai companies, not the technology. openai, midjourney, et all, should all be sued into the ground for the massive scale theft of intellectual property and other harm they’ve done to artists and other creatives.

    however

there are actual good use cases for this technology. Personally, I’m fond of using it to turn my drunken ramblings into coherent notes for later works. This would be totally fine to do, if the ai’s that were any good were made ethically and responsibly.

If only it were “super easy” when it’s being shoved down our throat by pretty much every company on the planet…

I think a lot of people in the west are kind of sleeping on the capabilities of microwaves. They’re fantastic.

That’s not an endorsement of AI.

After having 2 microwaves barely lasting more than a year in sequence, I decided no never have one again and rely on a small electric oven. It’s not the same, but it’s also great to use and it’s lasting 5 years so far. I don’t even miss a microwave anymore

Wow. That’s some shit luck, and I definitely get why you’d choose to not have one.

Don’t think we’ve had one last less than a decade.

But if you don’t need one, you don’t need one. No need to clutter your home with another appliance just because it can occasionally heat up leftovers in a minute or something. I find it convenient but I’ve also lived without it and it was fine.

The science was sound and built on a reliable use of electricity for output that people tried to get clever with but eventually settled into a more casual relationship with instead of expecting anything amazing from?

I mean honestly yeah probably will end up similar to microwaves where local running versions that people operating it are ok with lower quality will use, use it and its considered gross for professional setups.

      Good comparison.

Bro, the AI delusion is destroying the USA. Environmental protections are being rolled back to power it. It’s inflating US econony with fake deals. It is being shoved in our faces by clueless C-suite admin.

The Tech Bros are the ones repeating over and over again that “GenAI” is the future while outputting garbage at real human cost. This artist wants to express their frustration with the constant badgering.

I understand and support the same points you are talking about, my friend. I just think the statement is getting overused, you know? Some of the jokes aren’t even trying to be smart or refreshing, just “AI is bad and useless! LOL, am I right?”. Maybe I would like it more if it was more focused on the negative impact of AI as you just said, but it seems to always go for the low hanging fruit and the feeling of being somehow special for not interacting with AI. Like, I get it but it’s kinda weak and silly. It’s an important subject and should be treated as such. Anyway, it seems like most people here enjoy it and It’s just not for me.

          I just think it’s silly

I think you need to ask yourself why this one thing is annoying you enough that you felt the need to push back. I don’t want to know, I won’t even see the reply, I am suggesting you ask yourself why it’s important to you to fight a sentiment that a vast number of people who don’t otherwise share anything, happen to all feel the same about and what good you think you’re doing for anyone, even if it’s just yourself.
