Making my bed. I know it’s physically healthier to leave it unmade and let it air, but my bedroom is my sanctuary. When I walk in and see the bed looking dressed and pretty, it makes me feel good. Unmade triggers depression.

I recently started a new job. I had been sick over the weekend and had to call out yesterday because of it.

Today I had a lot of trouble waking up. I left for work and forgot my lunch on the table, because my brain just wasn’t there.

But a minute into my drive, I got a call from my manager. “I know what it’s like to head back to work after being sick, so if you want, you can come in an hour later today.”

The relief I felt was tremendous. I turned right around, put my lunch somewhere I can’t possibly forget it (under my phone and keys), and I’m about to head out more awake and ready than I would’ve been an hour ago. Not every job has a manager that treats their employees as human beings, but knowing that my manager proactively considered my well-being left me with an intense feeling of gratitude.

That’s why I pack my lunch the night before into the pants I’m going to wear to work.

      That’s awesome

I’m a few months into a new job and yesterday my boss out of the blue told me I’m doing an awesome job and he appreciates my work. Having a good boss is worth a lot.

I had a small moment yesterday where I could not force myself to care enough about the issues happening around me, and I walked into the garden and just sat under a tree for a while, watching the sky.

When I came back inside, I realised that I still did not care but that in itself was okay.

A small amount of time off, on my own, where nobody interacts with me. Not too much time off though, else you risk becoming isolated and weird.

I used to watch a streamer who ended every stream with the phrase “humans are just house plants with anxiety” and that always resonated with me.
