wrote my MP about it, they sent an automated email, justifying it further, so i sent another, and then someone wrote another thing justifying further.

they dont give a shit, all members are going to vote on it regardless of whether or not the people they represent want it.

I’ve sent six emails to my MP since the electio. Zero responses. My MP is even indigenous, sits in the governing party and has all the historical and current reasons to fight. I guess the bank deposits are too good to give a shit about much more.

im imagining its that plus some kind of concession made to the US, “we will lighten tarrifs if you give us your civilian data and search history” “why?” “…marketing…”

I have written and called with no response, but my MP is conservative so I imagine they have even less fucks to give on this extremely right-wing bill. I feel so fucking hopeless on all of this. I also just saw Bill C-5 was passed which is another huge dump on indigenous rights.

They’re definately coming for us Poor’s and disabled. That’s the dramatic first sign. We best get organized now. Rollback of rights is next and already tabled.

I would ask what their safeguards are to this data being illegally obtained, and what is in place to insure that the data is safely stored and transmitted.

them taking this data without a warrant is illegal, this whole thing goes against the constitution, specifically our right to privacy. then theres the fact that they would be sharing it with the united states government. also illegal.

The official stressed that police have to believe there are reasons to suspect that the information in question will assist in a criminal investigation, and said there is a mechanism in the bill allowing service providers to apply for judicial review if they are not comfortable handing over information.

But there are also legal consequences for those who don’t comply, including thousands of dollars in fines and possible jail time.

You know exactly what will happen 100% of the time, right?

Time for us to start marching on Ottawa and shut this shit down … 'cause once it passes it’ll have to be challenged in the SCoC to stop it.

Cool, so get a warrant, it should be a snap.

Since 9/11 we’ve seen our rights erode further and further.

Searches and access to private personal information without a warrant? What kind of government would defend this??? Carney’s government it seems.

I knew I didn’t trust the guy. He was as establishment as you could get. I warned people about him. And now people are starting to regret.

No time to rest. It no longer matters. What matters now is standing up to the repressive and regressive laws being passed by the current sitting Liberal government. Party politics needs to die.

I was fully aware when I voted for him. We’re just delaying the inevitable here, the NDP and Greens would have never won against the marketing machines that were the libs and cons.

So now would be the time to remember that while a VPN does hide some of your online activity from your ISP and your government, it is trusting the VPN provider to not collect that same activity information. Look for a VPN provider that prioritized security and privacy over speed. If they are offering a deal on 3 years of service keep looking.
