OP is talking about the infamous hate site Kiwifarms, which she’s a member of. Proof of this: You can see that the OP in the Kiwifarms thread I just linked, “MoeAnguish”, includes text links to archived Lemmy posts (in the words “strong” and “dislike”), specifically, Lemmy posts that talk about Leni being a Kiwifarms user. The Kiwifarms thread was made less than a day after the Lemmy post that talks about her being a Kiwifarms member. Leni has also hidden links to her Kiwifarms posts in Lemmy comments as well. In the word “question” in the first one, and in the word “overrated” in the second comment. Those links go to Kiwifarms posts by “MoeAnguish”. Same writing style and opinions as well. Context of the Kiwifarms thread is about being recognised on other sites.

To answer your question about why Kiwifarms is looked down upon, a couple paragraphs from Wikipedia is sufficient to understand why:

Discord’s purpose is for direct messaging friends and joining chat servers. The purpose of Kiwifarms is to spread hate. It was also responsible for the suicide of the Higan/BSNES emulator developer, Near/Byuu.
Near stated that they and their friends had been doxxed and goaded into suicide by members of the website, and that Near had been mocked for being autistic
That’s not them you are linking to on that site. People pretend to be other people on there all the time, especially in subtle ways like hyperlinking as if they are on here, as it allows them to not have to say they are lying. The fact they in turn link to the KiwiFarms page isn’t proof either; the two users are said to have just known about each other.

The Kiwifarms thread I linked includes other posts by “MoeAnguish” (Leni) later in the thread, including one where Leni on her MoeAnguish Kiwifarms account was gloating about me not approving of her defending Kiwifarms.

MoeAnguish/Leni’s comment about “Skirting the law” in the Kiwifarms thread is referring to me having to use TOR to access Kiwifarms for these screenshots and links, since I live in the UK and Kiwifarms is blocked here.

No normal person is going to defend Kiwifarms as a “free speech” site. Based on more reliable sources that talk about Kiwifarms, the sign up process involves a CAPTCHA of some sort which contains multiple slurs, and users have to agree with this before they can join. Users sign up knowing full well what the aim of the site is. Leni defended Kiwifarms as a free speech site on her Lemmy account. Kiwifarms is a hate speech site and conflating the two is another thing that gave Leni away (as if Leni minimizing the harm Kiwifarms has done as “more petty harassment” in the OP of this thread wasn’t also eyebrow-raising). Leni posted two links to Kiwifarms threads, both only go to posts by “MoeAnguish”. No mention of MoeAnguish being an impersonator. MoeAnguish is the only Kiwifarms poster who linked the Lemmy thread I made and referenced things I said in the first person. There’s no implication at all that she’s being impersonated.
Kiwifarms users are known for their trolling, manipulation and lying, though. It’s kind of part of their whole playbook.
I’m sure her angle is there is a difference between defending a website’s history and defending the mere act of happening to be on it.
You also answered your own confusion about the free speech thing.
“It was made for an angle of free speech” is her direct quote, which is a blatant lie as Kiwifarms was made for hate speech. Conflating hate speech with free speech is, to put it lightly, eyebrow raising. The only people I’ve seen do that are other Kiwifarmers besides her, alt-right fanatics, and bigots.
That quote literally cannot be found anywhere.
The whole defense for hate speech is free speech, but I’m guessing she doesn’t mean hate speech. You’ll have to ask her if I am wrong if you think I might be.
Sources say she is on there specifically to monitor the site when they mention her friends, with some in-between dialogue which has her use the site vocabulary in a tone that isn’t meant to be synonymous with her agreeing with their extremism.
May I also remind you that Lemmy not only advocates assassination but even sponsors it (not in the money sense)?

Discord is a huge platform, with a multitude of servers with good portion of users discussing there casually without willfully causing harm.
KF’s main purpose of existence is to harass and target vulnerable people. It deserves to be shunned and shamed, and anyone using that platform deserves to be ostracized.

Kiwifarms is affiliated with much more than just “petty” harassers. Several people have committed suicide due to group harassment from that site including the Higan/BSNES developer, Near/Byuu.
I checked, they’re not a member of it. What you’re using to say they are a member are red herrings.

Discord is not specifically allied or affiliated with any of these perpetrators of mass violence is the reason why; they were the medium that these mass violence perpetrators used to keep either private diaries or communicate their ideas with others. This is not being an ally, this is the nature of a communication service. Given the constant noise on that service generated via conversations, live streams, groups, these perpetrators might not be seen by the platform owners.
Kiwi Farms went out of it’s way to act as a hub and nerve center for harassing trans people; the methods: doxxing, death threats, stalking, outing their personal information, dead naming. In many cases, under the burden of this constant harassment, many killed themselves to get relief from sustained attacks against them. Those fuckers are rightfully hated and deserve to be gone, never have I seen a hive of villainy and filth quite like them. Discord has a much larger userbase tham KiwiFarms.
Discord’s admin team doesn’t condone or call for this type of stuff, it just so happens that people used their platform for bad things. It’s near impossible to manually keep an eye on things at their scale, and doing so would violate people’s privacy as it’s a messaging platform with plenty of private communities and chats.
The admin of KiwiFarms actively condones and engages in the harassment of people. It’s quite literally their founded purpose. Chris Chan isn’t a great person, but she doesn’t deserve harassment. The KiwiFarms community went after one socially-awkward person with a neurological condition, and then decided it wanted to go after anybody else who might be slightly socially awkward.
I was in a community one time with someone who was socially awkward, but genuinely a well-meaning person. I’m not naming names, but I eventually found out that people had a harassment campaign against her for the most mundane of reasons.
“Becoming associated” with “petty” harassers is misleading and you know that. They were founded to be an harassment campaign, and grew to harass others to the point of suicide, which they then continue to mock after death. All this because a bunch of sad individuals need to put others down in order to feel better about themselves when in actuality they’re worse than the people they harass to the point of killing themselves for an escape.
I hope you know that you and anybody else who uses that site will never amount to anything more than accessories to crime. If you really need to feel better about yourself, then howsabout you delete your KF account, go outside, and get a life?
