That’s a good question. This group - Democracy Watch - is a non-profit, which as far as I can tell, seems to be operating in good faith. Their stated goals to hold governments and corporations accountable in the interest of safeguarding and improving democracy are definitely admirable. But I also couldn’t find any disclosure of funding sources, so make of that what you will.
I’m not too familiar with them, but if you look through their news section you’ll notice this particular issue isn’t new to them (court processes take a long time) Nor do they seem focused on any party, rather, corruption at all levels of business and gov.
They seem truly nonpartisan
And from some searches I’ve found they are a nonprofit and have been around since 1993.
What I wouldn’t trust are people cherry picking this topic at this time and pushing it. Not that is isn’t newsworthty and not specifically directed at op.
What other notable actions have they taken to date? This should help inform what’s going on unless they always chase whatever their current money demands, which seems a bit far fetched.

And they are important enough to have a wiki https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Watch_(Canada)
