UK trolleys (carts) have a little hook below the handle where you can hang them. Do your carts not?
No. Here in America we just have a gun holster on the carts.
This cracked me up
He forgot to mention the drink holder as well. Fits a 52oz medium beverage.
Then you should tip me as I’m American.
And we wouldn’t want it any other way.
In America you can sneak a candy bar into a movie threater by putting it in the magazine slot of your pistol. This gets you out of paying $20 for a snickers bar.
They do have cup holders sometimes
No that would be nice! Plus it could easily be bolted on
Sadly Lidl trollies in the UK doesn’t. At least not at my local.
Their trollies used to have plastic hooks fitted to the front of the trolly, but they’ve been removed for some reason 😪
Some places do. Whole Foods comes to mind; and I think those big plastic Target carts do too, IIRC

They do not
I just put them in the pullout seat for toddlers.
Also, where I live in the US at least, the grocery carts have
Think I’ve only ever seen this like twice. Really depends on what are you are in
I’ve never seen carts with that little extra bit, but that’s what I imagined would be a good idea to have on them. Just some hooks to keep the bags from flopping to the bottom. Wherever you are is ahead of the curve when it comes to cart technology. 😅 The most tech in the carts around here is the locks on the wheels that turn on when you get too far away from the building. 😮💨
I’m in Ohio and I’ve never seen a cart without that part

Those look awesome but how does the checkout process work?

It’s advertised as ‘do your shopping prebagged’ but it seems like you need to take everything out and rebag correct?
I see these a lot in my city.
Rods in my bags just seem like a cumbersome addition. Are they not harder to store? Do the long bars not hinder bringing them inside? I have narrow stairs before my door to my apartment I think those may make turning on them a hassle.
I don’t own them, so I don’t know about storage. The handles are on the same side as the rods so carrying them should be easy enough.
Self checkouts never seem to fit the bags I bring in. And I bought them at the very same store.
Ya they made them plastic bag width but also the length of the plate. You’re either hanging off the edge or squished. So mildly annoying
Yup. Back to the original post, have you thought about 3d printing a hangar to just temporarily put on the shopping cart? I was thinking about designing something real quick.
Is a carabiner not an easier choice? My bags came with their own.
Hey everybody, look at mr fancy pants over here! My bags did not come with any sort of fastening device, and besides, that’s why I own a 3d printer. To solve problems like this.
(Begin infomercial acting)
Narrator: Is messing with carabiners too hard sometimes?
[actor fumbles with carabiner and drops it on the floor]
Narrator: Does your arthritis prevent you from working those tiny little carabiners?
[actor rubs their hands like they are in pain]
Narrator: Do you forget to unclasp your carabiner when you finish shopping?
[show shopping cart with 20+ carabiners attached]
Narrator: Well fumble no more with the handy Shopping Cart Bag Holder by Figco™.
[show someone happily shopping]
Narrator: Act now while supplies last, only $99.99 + shipping and handling.
Great idea! That would be really easy to bring with. I’m gonna design one as well though I’d love to see yours too!
Did you know I print or just suggest it? Just curious
I have a 3d printer and it was the first thing I thought of. Had no idea you could do the same.
Here is what I came up with. This should just hook onto the top of the cart. https://imgur.com/zgbTrOs
Nice! Right on some prints were the first thing I posted so I was curious. I think I’m gonna go for something a bit wider than a hook. Maybe a bar around 12/14 cm so it doesn’t sway
Here’s what I was thinking
That looks good too. On mine I was just thinking about hooking that little loop that is in the center. Yours would work for the handle.
Like 20 years ago I had this grand idea to sell add on kits for shopping carts to grocery stores. One would divide the cart in half so you could have heavy stuff separate from chips/bread/whatever. Another had all kinds of hooks/holders for stuff like that.
Should’ve done something with that idea apparently.
Why is it a problem of your reusable bags slip to the bottom of the cart?
Because you can’t start bagging until the bags are present
Go out and buy a “Mommy-hook”. It’s essentially a giant carabiner with a foam side for a “handle”.
You wanna clip something to something? Boom. Mommy hook.
