I mean, why wouldn’t we.
We are a cold country with not much usable land.
We are an oil producer.
We are also a resource based economy and wood is a big one.
Imo, if anything, US should lead climate initiatives as they have far more opportunity for cheap solar power AND have more to lose in terms of places becoming uninhabitable.
I want Canada to be as green as possible but I’m not gonna deny that we are at a disadvantage to do so.
We have almost the dirtiest oil in the world. Per the article, our villain status is won by our role in undermining international fossil fuel reduction initiatives and performing worse than many other comparator countries in following through on international commitments. It important to point out that our exports of O&G are not at all included in these measurements. Our government can get serious about the green energy transition anytime.
And haven for money laundering and organized crime!
just kill us and end our suffering then. its for the greater good.
Not while there’s still value to be extracted from our shambling soon-to-be-corpses.
Think of all the heavy metals they can get from our ashes!
Maple-washing works.
Canada really hasn’t. For some reason, people think the world listens to Canadian opinions. They don’t, but it’s helpful when they parrot the COP party lines. Helps spread the blame if everyone agrees.
The problem is more to do with the politicians willingness to ignore the electorate and instead take corporate money. It’s the same pretty much everywhere.
Until that changes, nothing improves.
