Beware of the tankies, folks. I’ve seen them out here on Lemmy. They’re hopping from reddit and fb to here.

Keep your head on a swivel and remember that blog posts aren’t news articles.

A cheap investment considering the returns.

Between this and the low cost of purchasing legislators, it’s incredible we even have any functioning to our country.

    Oh…

Of note: The US “Global Engagement Center” created under Obama to combat russian disinformation, among other things, has a budget somewhat less than US$27 million per week. It’s about six percent (6%) of that. In 2017, “Sleepy” Rex Tillerson decided not to fund it at all.

Why is the US government half-assing an important function like dismantling misinformation? Well, that department’s existence is vigorously opposed by one of the main political parties in the US and one batshit narcissistic billionaire social media owner.

Because the US government (and the associated political parties, think tanks, and strategists of various ideologies) are already hard at work triple-assing their own misinformation on behalf of themselves and their donors.

Thank God, maybe we can get some newer, fresher tankie mouthpieces.

These ones are getting tired and worn out.

Ya know part of me can only think that this is money that could’ve been given to private conscriptovitch but is instead being used to influence US elections. I cant tell if thats money well spent by Russia or if theyre just fucking over their own troops.

      It’s unfortunately money well spent.

If they spend $1billion in the war against Ukraine to buy a few missiles or tanks, vs spending the same during a key election cycle period to reduce the chance that we’ll have a concerted congress that can deliver foreign aid to Ukraine in the tens/hundreds of billions long term, I’d say it’s worth the cash.

I mean, it’s already working. We’ve got dozens and dozens of politicians at the highest level, including Trump himself, completely and thoroughly compromised as Russian assets and ready to hand America and the rest of the world over on a platter to Putin, because they believe his lies.

Good. Let them run out their paltry psyops budget as fast as possible. The latest slate of sanctions is dooming their own people, and hopefully they do something about it.
