For those not inclined to follow the link, this is an announcement of a planned modernization of the manotoba.ca website. There is also a 5-minute survey on their presumably about what people want out of the update. (I’ll be doing it as soon as I post this comment.)
This is great news. I’ve personally been complaining about the state of MB’s web properties for about the last decade. In terms of finding info, they’re a mess, and the various business-oriented portals are rather convoluted to use (specifically the companies office, and taxcess). I’m not sure if overhauling those is on the agenda, but presumably if they’re finally moving on one property there could be some inertia there that might get the ball rolling across the board.
Even from an aesthetic perspective, the dated look of our provincial sites doesn’t exactly inspire confidence to people from out of province considering moving or doing business here.
I disagree with the characterization as an “announcement” - EngageMB is the government’s site for, well, public engagement.
But I completely agree that it’s great news - the provincial website is a mess.
Fair enough regarding the semantics of an announcement. I only took it as such being that this was how I first heard about these plans. Regardless, I’m happy to see it and enthusiastically filled out the survey.
For sure - I try to share new engagement surveys when I see them.
Companies Office portal for yearly renewals is way better than Alberta’s, but way worse than Saskatchewan’s.
I highly reccomend that in your survey you suggest that they just talk to SK about taking the design/software. NWPs are a thing, and if the prairies had identical interfaces, and they take the best of the three, it would make things much easier.
