Care to elaborate? Seems like a sensible change unless you’re in the business of selling dislikes.

Without dislikes you don’t know if people just didn’t like the video or if it was unsuccessful because of the algorithm. Views or likes alone aren’t a clear answer.

You don’t use views or likes. You go to the reach and engagement tab in your analytics where breaks it all down. Watch time is the most important stat and dislikes is not correlated to it. You could have your video have 80% dislikes but the best watch time of your channel and your video is fine to get recommended anywhere cause it’s watch time is still fine.

I meant as a user. Now you have no way to know if people liked a video. A video could have many views because of advertising or being shown in a prominent place.

without knowing how the majority reacted to your video, you cant get a general sense if they liked it or not. also you cant know if youve made a major mistake (such as filming a dead body in the japanese forest.)(emplemon did a great video on why dislikes are inportant, search for it on invidious.)

right-wingers have monopolized dislikes since the very beginning, a lot of “people” will be against this change
