    ‘Must’?

    No we musn’t

It may be a popular idea for civilians, but we support Israel for geopolitical reasons, not just to be friendly.

Could you elaborate on those reasons?

Mainly “Iran is bad and will happily cause significant problems for the west if left unchecked”

Israel is in no way a useful check to Iran. Everyone in the region either hates them or tolerates them for money. They do not have an interest in attacking Iran at scale abroad, or the population to sustain it. If anything they serve as a useful strawman for Iran.

Also, I’d like to point out our “allies” in the region are just as bad. Iran isn’t a real democracy. Saudi is openly an absolute monarchy and holds public beheadings for fun.

You have no idea what the disease would look like then…

Proper wars and genocides aren’t measured in 10s of thousands of deaths.

Clearly you’re not familiar with the term moral imperative

There are far worse “moral” issue going on in the world right now that we don’t give a shit about.

        Why is this conflict special?

China is busy actually killing off an entire ethnicity and everyone has forgotten about them.

Hey, I’m glad to hear you’re concerned about the welfare of the Uyghur populations living in the Chinese Government’s concentration camps. So am I. The difference between the apartheids/genocides being inflicted on the Uyghurs and the Palestinians though is that the last 3.5 months have seen most traditional Western media outlets (implicitly) condone the apartheid/genocide of Palestinians. That whitewashing and propaganda is a call to action for anyone concerned about truth, human rights, democracy, international law, etc.

May I suggest that instead of investing time nitpicking those fighting for human rights in Gaza, you join the fight for human rights in Northwest China. May your compassion and interest in world events be a source of positivity
