I don’t get the AOC hate. I mean I understand minor frustrations with him but I feel like a lot of people want to trash him so quick. Like let the dude cook and I think we could have a solid qb. I think with AP and Hardegree he could really fine tune and tweak his few flaws. I think he could be the real deal just get him a solid backup but I think a lot of us fans are sleeping on my boy. He’s been holding his own, especially with so much change during his rookie year. End rant. Stop the raider hate.

Keeping it 100% real here I agree with giving the kid time. As a 4th round rookie he has a very rare opportunity to showcase why he’s worthy of that time. In that span he’s had flashes of being a competent starting QB in the league and ton of rookie hiccups. From what I’ve seen the kid lacks mobility and holds on to the ball too long. He’s made some incredible throws and doesn’t stare down receivers which is a positive but he has also shown his accuracy and decision making isn’t the best. I want him to start the rest of the season but we shouldn’t continue with the assumption that he’s going to develop into a QB that can elevate us to a championship.

He has 6 more games to show something hard to win if you are immobile in this league. I like AOC but he’s not a franchise guy imo.

That’s something’s that kinda been a deal-breaker for me. AOC runs like a duck. Every good modern QB has some element of extending plays with their legs or is a scrambling weapon. AOC is neither.

The dude ran for a fifteen yard first down yesterday (called back for penalty).

I understand he’s not the next coming of michael Vick, but I also do not believe he’s the statue people make him out to be. He’s adequate, which is goods enough for me.

Agreed. I’ve liked what I’ve seen from AOC so far, especially considering the fact he was a 4th round pick, but he has to learn/become more confident in scrambling if he’s going to succeed long term.

IMO he is staring down receivers - which is part of the reason he had 3 picks yesterday. Don’t think he’s going through progressions well atm

Still agree with giving him some time tho

Trying to force it past Ramsey and staring Davante. How many times does he have to pick him off before he learns

He isn’t getting time to work through progressions. Frequently, he is getting time for a single look and then his check down.

An OK QB will thrive behind a top quartile o-line. We have an OK quarterback behind a bottom quartile o-line. This is rookie year Peyton Manning type stuff: even he looked bad behind that o-line.

With all due respect to AOC and his talent…we’re comparing 4th round QBs to former Heisman candidates now?

To be fair to the O line though, the pass protection was actually pretty damn good yesterday, I haven’t seen a Raider QB consistently have time in the pocket like that all season. That run blocking though, boy that was awful yesterday Jacobs couldn’t do shit.

Yeah. I mentioned in another comment that halfway through the game, I said, “Stop running Jacobs into a wall! It’s not working! Just let the rookie fling it!”

Bruh. You can’t seriously compare AOC to Peyton Manning. Chances are that AOC ain’t it. He’s our starter the rest of the year, which is good. He might show us he deserves another year, but I doubt it. To me it looks like he’s going to be a premium backup or a bridge QB when he’s got some experience under his belt. He’s already 25; older than or as old as Lawrence, CJ Stroud, Herbert, Tua, Jalen Hurts.

AOC understands football. That’s very important for a QB. He doesnt however have the physical attributes that nearly all of todays top QBs have. He’s not extremely precise, he doesn’t move outside of the pocket, he doesn’t go through progressions well. Some of that might get better with coaching, but again, the guy is 25. This isn’t like a 20 year old coming out of college. Our brains stop developing in the mid 20s.

Anyone hating the guy is an idiot; he’s a 4th round rookie thrust into a starting role under a first time HC with a first time playcaller. That doesn’t mean that you can’t watch him play and come to the conclusion that he ain’t it though.

NOBODY is going to be a top 15 QB behind the Raiders line, so we should be realistic about what the ceiling is for QB on the Raiders right now. Even an amazing QB like Manning couldn’t overcome a crap line.

I watched every game of AOC’s college career, many of them in-person. I am not sure I have ever seen a QB that is more influenced by his line play.

1 of the picks was him halfway to the ground in a sack, and the last one was a last ditch effort at the end to try to tie the game. It’s hard to put too much stock in those

He was also looking Defenders off in this and other games. A lot to put on a rookie when we are missing out best OL, a new OC with McDaniels system still there. Not to mention we couldn’t run the ball, Vic Fangio is really good DC also. Let’s all let him continue to grow and develop, not like he was named week 1 started. Kids 4th game and he played well in the other 3.

If the raiders had an average QB this year they’d be a surefire playoff team. That’s the issue with AOC. Adam’s is open on seemingly every single play and nobody on the team can get the ball to him consistently. He should absolutely get the remainder of the year to prove himself but he needs to look much better to prevent them from taking a QB early in the draft next year
