I hope it isn’t anything too serious. Get well soon, Woz.

He had a minor stroke. Good that it was minor and that help was nearby. But it’s not the news we were hoping for.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is in hospital in Mexico, according to multiple reports.

An unnamed source from the WBF said that Mr Wozniak fainted on Wednesday afternoon at the event, according to the CNN news website.

Better known in the tech world as Woz, Mr Wozniak is a Silicon Valley veteran who co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs in 1976 and invented the first Apple computer.

The computing pioneer signed a letter in March alongside Elon Musk calling for a pause in the development of the most powerful artificial intelligence (AI) models.

He called for the regulation of AI when he spoke to the BBC in May 2023, fearing the technology would be harnessed by “bad actors”.

But he sounded a note of scepticism that regulators would get it right: “I think the forces that drive for money usually win out, which is sort of sad.”

This guy was a legend. Steve Jobs took credit for everything but Wozniak was the brains.

Wozniak is a much, much better person than Steve Jobs was also. However, thanks to Steve Jobs, we got macbooks. Wozniak would not have put such polish on the products as Steve did, or market it the same magical way. Steve was great at marketing, but he didn’t have the tech skills Wozniak had.
