    Not sure if it is Canadian specific, but measuring energy is also a confusing one. We have BTU, kWh, Joule, calorie, kilocalorie…

      These are all different, kWh is for electricity in kilowatts, kilocalorie is for the energy in food, not sure what BTU is though. And I think Joules are a measure of energy when a mass hits something.

        You are right in that they are used in different contexts, however, this is just due to social practices. They are all measuring the same physical property: energy. This is part of what makes the concept of energy so confusing to many people.

          The type of energy is different like electricity is just the movement of electrons, the energy in calories is a chemical one.
