Was curious to know if that was an option on Lemmy. Although, in some regards, it is kind of nice not knowing what team someone supports.
It’s probably going to be a feature down the line. Reddit didn’t look like the way it is now back in 2006.
As much fun as I had with flairs, I hope it doesn’t show up in the near future. It seems like people on the other platforms would make their decisions and responses based off people’s flairs, and it often devolved into strawman arguments or just “lel, flair up first before talking to me.” Felt like the quality of conversation disappeared when it became straight tribalism in the chat.
Yea I’m not sure I ever appreciated over on Reddit. It used them and read them but I’m not sure it really ever contributed.
While lemmy can and certainly will add features over time, I wonder if this will be the sort of thing lemmy devs and the culture here, partly influenced by the ethos of the fediverse at large, will pass on. Flairs lean a bit “let’s drum up engagement” maybe?
Something nicer might be community specific bio sections, where in your bio you can write sections for certain communities so that people can check what you’re about if they’re interested?

Not yet, I’m sure it will be added in once the more important stuff is taken care of
Unfortunately no. I think the only way we can get around this is by uploading an avatar for your profile with the team you support. But it’s definitely more annoying
I don’t want people to know I’m a Celtics fan
I feel the same, I just want my words to be taken at face value
It was only nice to know if so oenes opinion was.biased when talking about a team
As far as I am aware it is not, but if anyone sees them start to pop up anywhere lmk and I will get them implemented here.
