I just replicated it to verify. The unaccurate comments count is incrementing on each modifying, as you can sse there: https://lemmy.ca/post/575453

It makes my posts look like comments are blocked or not shown. (And I checked every setting of languages preventing the showing of comments, just to be sure, it’s not related to that)

I don’t know if this only happening on lemmy.ca or if it’s all over this version of Lemmy ? Does anyone notice that too ? Can tou try to trigger the bug on your post ?

Edit: For me at least this still shows “2 comments” at the time of this (4th edit)

yeah, that’s really strange, but it doesn’t appear to be happening in this post.

i checked in the db itself for the other post which shows 5 comments, and there’s only 3 listed.

edit: it might be this? https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2826 appears to be a federation issue.

edit2: FYI sometimes it’s language settings. i know if people set their language of a comment, and you don’t have that language selected in your settings, it won’t show that comment in the post, but will count it in the # of comments. but i don’t think that’s the issue here.

Thanks for looking into the issue :) Language settings are a hell, but I’ve tried everything to troubleshoot languages and the issue doesn’t seem to be related to that.

Also, if you access the same community through another instance, like https://beehaw.org/c/[email protected] , it shows the real number of comments. (And you don’t need to be logged to see that.)
