People would stupidly comment just to “save” a post for later, not realize that was already a built in feature

Most useless feature. If I want to save a post, I’ll make a bookmark in Firefox.
It did have some utility when you could access Reddit through different apps. That way you have the same “bookmarks” everywhere.
