If you ask me, thats way better than these NIU battery swapping stations. Still very interesting how chinese companies really take the lead in this field.
Like it or not, the systems in China are just really efficient at manufacturing and R&D. When you can just litterally dump money into R&D departments while keeping the cost of the product competitive with slave-like labour, you’re pretty much set for success. The industrial revolution in the west benefitted from the same. A lot of new tech, plenty of money to invest in improvements, and shit pay for the factory workers.
What kind of battery are they using???
They apparently had to develop 1,500 volt power chips to operate the power system at 1,000 volts to achieve this.
I’m sure it is also terrible for battery longevity, as all fast charging systems inevitably cause more damage during the charge cycle.
The article doesn’t really go into that though. Just that BYD claims it’s fine. No actual numbers.
They charge harder but stop earlier, the battery is probably at the same temperature at 60% as the previous tech is at 80% so they could be doing the same amount of damage.
