MFs who support this usually point to current UK private healthcare costs and imply it will still cost the same once the majority of healthcare is funded privately rather than via taxes. This is always completely ignorant that private healthcare costs so little in the UK compared to the US because its subsidized by the NHS, the NHS provides much of the more expensive services still, and private has to compete against the NHS on cost as best it can.

Once we have a free market for private healthcare costs to the end user will rapidly balloon.

Apparently it’s a bit of a running joke on maternity wards. People pay for private treatment. However, as soon as there is a serious issue, they are rushed to the same NHS doctors as everyone else. Basically all you pay extra for is a nicer room, and nurses playing maid (or maids playing nurse, depending).

Let’s remember fararge has a history of making comparisons he has no plans to follow.

      Switzerland and Norway during Brexit.

The equive now would be to say not funded by taxation dose not mean the US model.

The UK is unique in funding the NHS from the general taxation fund. Everyone else with universal healthcare uses an NI like setup. Our NI dose not fund the NHS. This was an intentional choice that the right strongly objected to.

Fararge will never admit to going US style. He will propose different systems while refusing to commit to any one set of rules.

Really dose not take any imagination to consider who may want this unsure potential change in the UK. More soost it working for Brexit.

It is important for all media and other folks talking to him. To force him to describe the future system he wants.

Being vague is not to be trusted.
