As an American I aspire to avoid the brands we export to the rest of the world.
Luckily I have some disposable income, I’m happy to support the local businesses around me (not the ones that donate to trump!) and even pay tariffs on foreign brands to support them instead of American culture-exporting brands.
I hope together we can all send a message.
That’s what happens when you make your country Great Again™. It’s typical that the most developed countries in the world ostracize you because they’re jealous. /s
Canadian here. Those are rookie numbers.
Out of curiosity, do you have numbers for Canada? I know the situation is very dynamic…
Slightly misleading title althought the sentinent is good.
3 out of 10 have avoided an American product and 4 out of 10 have considered doing so as a sign of a political statement.
Its not quite as strong as the title to this post makes it sound.
Thank you, updated
3 out of 10 Swedes have used an American product (Facebook) to avoid other American products
I wouldn’t really expect them to use Friendica to be honest
This might be an ideal time for them to start…
IIRC the default UI is really dated. There was a theme redesign that could help, but not sure how advanced that is
This is based on a survey, not Facebook group numbers. 70% of people questioned had either boycotted or considered boycotting US products during the past month.
Exactly. + The Facebook group gets it right in their description. They view Facebook as “the prerfect weapon” to get people into a boycott, thus justifying the means of using an American product. Fair point, if you want to actually reach the people.
Its pretty lame but sure, its something.
I snorted. This sounds like “Cool stuff!” in Dutch.
Considering doing something is completely irrelevant to everyone else. Doing something is the only thing that can have an effect on anything. That’s just how that works.
