I’ve had Indira since saturday. When I was ready to go to bed today I heard her meow. So I went in and tried to play with her. To my surprise she didn’t run for cover immediately and to my very big joy she began play-cuddling with the toy stick. I’m not allowed totouch her directly yet (she even bit me earlier today when I tried) but it’s great progress and totally worth staying up late as she even purred a little. Also someone interested contacted the shelter and they’ll come here in the next days.

Indira ist seit Samstag bei mir. Als ich mich heute bettfertig gemacht hatte hörte ich sie maunzen. Also bin ich rein zu ihr und hab es mit Spielen versuc ht. Zu meiner Überraschung ist sie diesmal nicht sofort zurückgewichen und zu meiner großen Freude hat sie sogar angefangen mit dem Stab zu schmusen. Ich darf sie noch nicht anfassen (sie hat mich beim Versuch heute sogar gebissen) aber es ist ein toller Fortschritt und absolut wert dass ich länger aufgeblieben bin da sie sogar ein wenig geschnurrt hat. Laut Tierheim kommen die nächsten Tage auch schon Interessenten hier her.

It took us just over a month to acclimate our little semi feral bastard, but it was so worth it he’s a huge cuddle bug. He still bites but it’s just “love bites” that happen to be very sharp.
My client showed the gif twice and my brain went “the top gif is in English and bottom is in German, duh”

Today I managed to trick her into letting me give her some scritches. I first used the stick as in the video, then shortener it bit by bit and let her notice it. I finally reacher her while still holding the stick. She must have thought what an amazing new scratching technique the stick had learned and REALLY leaned into it. When she looked up and saw my hand was doing all the scritching she growled and went a few steps back. I then longened the stick again and she came closer and thus I shortened the stick again. This time she didn’t growl. Bit by bit she becomes more trusting.
English is a bastard language.
Where you have longened, it should be lengthened or elongated.

Nice progress! Well done, hopefully she warms up even more soon, keep us posted.
If the bite pierced skin it might be worth going to the doctor for a check. According to my vet a catbite that punctured the skin has a near 100% chance of becoming an infection.
It went through but only a but, she immediately let go, didn’t bite hard. Since she has been in the shelter for a long time without being sick and I disinfected it right away I should be fine. Thans for the concern though.
You’re kind if an asshole for just continuing to poke her in the face with that stick.

Yeah I’m totally an asshole by scratching her with the stick and her leaning in when I pet her with it and this making her purr. Total dick move, I know.
