Summary

Democratic governors criticized Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for not doing enough to block Trump’s cabinet nominees and policies.

In a conference call, governors led by JB Pritzker and Maura Healey urged stronger resistance, particularly against nominees Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard.

Andy Beshear and Tim Walz stressed the need for better messaging and media presence, while Laura Kelly called for a stronger digital strategy.

Schumer defended Democrats’ efforts but faced frustration over state leaders bearing the brunt of opposition efforts.

Every person in Congress is a millionaire and with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 of them, they don’t give a flying fuck about their constituents.

At this point I’m convinced neither the Dems or the GOP actually care about America and our institutions. Dems should be dominating yet they continue to be ok with letting trump win. It’s like they don’t believe their own rhetoric.

What are you talking about? Surely the Democrats aren’t only interested in symbolic, but ultimately vapid posturing…

Not disagreeing, but also think it is important to mention that the GOP is also obsessed with value signalling. No other reason to push the DEI narrative so much.

Need the new breakout dems like AOC, etc…

Watch her conversations with Jon Stewart from last week.

      https://youtu.be/eeheoxWzf2o

She made a great comment at one point, that the democratic platform needs to have protecting marginalized people not even a thought. It will be such a baseline of the platform that protecting people is not negotiable. And we will no stand by while those people’s rights are eroded. That’s where all fights begin, the conversations don’t even include the culture wars over this because protecting those people is a non starter.

It makes you think that the US is basically a one party state with two different sections

The Party of the Almighty Dollar

They don’t care about our lives … or even their lives for that matter … all they care about is the money.

Once our relationship to money and wealth is changed, then humanity can evolve one more step away from the cave we emerged from 40,000 years ago.

I mean sure both parties are going to serve the Almighty shareholder by finding reasons to avoid wealth taxes, upholding capitalism where the strongest survive (except for corporations that lobby well and need bailed out of course), and using their positions in the government to personally profit. But at least one party is going to recognize that trans people are humans, make an effort to oversee environmental or workers rights, or even admit that human beings deserve to eat in the process.

This is the closest they’ll get to finding out what they’d do if they were zapped back in time to Germany in 1930. Apparently, the answer is “wait and see.”

Our ineffective representatives just need to step down. Term limits might be helpful in the long term, but Bernie and AOC are the only people with their heads on their shoulders right now.
