I won’t pretend to understand what’s happened and why. I don’t follow celebrities and their lives. I’m not familiar with his work, but I do adore Aubrey. If she chose him as a partner, then I can only assume that he was an incredible person.

Suicide is complicated. Many of us have contemplated it. Many of us have tried. Some of us have succeeded. And still many more have found healing of both attempt and/or ideation.

I won’t judge a person for taking their life. Regardless of the circumstances though, it almost always leaves behind hurting people.

I hope those around him are able to seek and eventually find the healing they need. And I hope that his friends and family get the privacy and respect they deserve.

To all those who think (e.g. paparazzi, TMZ) it’s their business in any way shape or form, may the universe set you straight… preferably sternly…

First, I agree with you almost entirely. I love Aubrey’s work and general vibe. My heart goes out to her and anyone else who has been in a similar situation. That all being said the smartass pedant in me has to speak.

      Some of us have succeeded.

Probably not reading this thread tbh.

Could just be a language gap, but I took it as they know who Aubrey is from her work and interviews etc, not that they personally know her

No, let’s point cameras at her face and remind her incessantly of her dead husband!

I don’t understand whether or not this is sarcastic, or why you’d need to be sarcastic here.

It’s humor to deflect the sad reality that paparazzi stalk and harrass these people constantly.

Maybe I’m overly sensitive but sarcasm against something that didn’t need it at all just seemed to twist the mood on a post that should warrant some somber respect.

They’re not sarcastic about these circumstances, but about how we as a society treat the people affected by them.

Though it’s fair if you don’t want to focus on that in this context.

That’s exactly what my thing is here, indeed. It just felt weird. Imagine saying that at a funeral e.g.

Everyone deals with things differently. My grandfathers funeral was essentially a party in his memory. You’re absolutely allowed to feel the way you do, but so is everyone else.

They are being sarcastic because that’s what they think it’s the proper way to behave.

That’s the worst thing to learn. The call from a stranger who sounds sad, that heavy “I’m sorry.” No one deserves to think that they weren’t enough to stop their loved one from killing themselves but it will live in her head for a while. Suicide hurts everyone for years except for the victim.
