I don’t know people until they talk about themselves.

If people think it’s oversharing then there is just stuff they don’t want to accept about the world. I’m an adult that can end a conversation when it needs to.

These people always approach when you’re obviously under a heavy burden.

I usually don’t mind sitting down to chat with people. I know I get nervous myself in talking with new people and I can never gauge if I’m oversharing or not … and it’s really a pain when you talk to someone who isn’t saying much because then you try to figure out if they like you or not, which then makes you wonder if you should keep talking or not. It’s also more difficult when you are forced to be around strangers at an event like a wedding, funeral, office party or community gathering.

But the worst situation is in finding that one person out of 20 who is on some kind of anti-anxiety or anti-depressive medication and has a million issues in their lives and can’t regulate their interactions with people. I got stuck with someone like this a few weeks ago at a family gathering and soon after I said ‘Hello, how are you?’ … I stood next to him for close to two hours while he told me his entire life story from the time he was born to the present day. Every time I tried to get a word in, he just ignored it and kept talking. At least the egg salad sandwiches were nice. :[
