Jon Stewart could pierce the veil, I hope some day genuine good people see themselves as worthy of the power they could wield. If not them, then clearly a thousand ghouls are waiting in the ramparts.
I sure hope so. For a while after Trevor left, The Daily Show was really floundering for a bit, giving nearly everyone a run at the desk, even if they were abrasive and not even remotely funny, as long as they ticked some diversity box. I was on the verge of giving up watching until they changed that up a bit and then brought Jon back.
First rule of thumb in trying to win people over might be not being annoying AF. I think Air America made this mistake to a large degree…

You’re going to equate a streamer who does no ad sponsor reads to a Podcaster with a 250 million dollar contract? Who would you even listen to that would clear your criteria? Insane.
Yeah theres a lot to criticize Vaush over but being a streamer isnt one of them.
I find most of it to be overblown, and what’s not overblown to be bad arguments stemming from arguing from the extremes over every topic ever. Maybe rhetorically useful, but the Nazis don’t belong in symbolism about mundane slights. The internet is full of people who made up their mind and make up other people’s mind about it, but if you watch him it’s pretty blantant that there’s no nefarious vibes in the man as he exists today.
I’m saying they’re in the same business. Sure Joe Rogan is more successful than Vaush, but they’re doing the same thing.
They both create para-social communities (which is why you feel the need to stick up for him) where they create controversy to generate revenue. Just because you have a para-social relationship with Vaush doesn’t make you any different than those that have a para-social relationship with Joe Rogan.
You honestly think Vaush would turn down a $250M contract with spotify if it were offered?
