Tbh I was absolutely baffled by Macron’s pick for PM - he basically snubbed all the left-wing voters who came out in droves to stop RN/FN (“make France great again”) from winning. I have no idea what he’s thinking anymore in a strategic political sense.

And when there are no more corpo-centrists to choose, they will always support the fascists. Especially when faced with a growing leftist movement. That is what we are now seeing happen in France.

Relying on gridlock to protect himself and preserve his Graeco-Roman Godlike power. So good to see him get fucked over it.

I believe he is honestly more scared of leftist than far right. Macron is at the core a liberal (economic not American), a utilitarian and a staunch believer in the great man theories and thus that the people are sheeps who can’t know what’s good for them. Only great leaders and captains of industry can.

He truly believes leftist economic policies are the greatest evil, civilization destroying kind and getting in bed with nazi is the least worst options even if that means sacrificing a few “Jews” to save the universe. (Warning, 1st degree people that’s a metaphore, I am not saying Macron is antisemite)

Fucking moderates want to campaign on progressive values so they need to move everyone else further right so they seem progressive in comparison.

It really seemed like he didn’t, and was pulling out all the stops to block them. And then he did an about-face and extended an olive branch to them after they were kept out of power. Kinda insane.

It’s the kind of liberalism that acts progressive until it might actually make a difference, then flees to the right. Although Macron has never really looked progressive.
