Stalin was not a Christian either. Similarly, if Putin considers you a threat, you may disappear. Trump has followed a similar approach, gathering loyalists in as many government positions as possible. He has vowed retribution against his perceived enemies, much like the forced internment camps the U.S. used for Japanese Americans during WWII. He may indeed imprison those who speak out against him, having already promised to deploy the National Guard against protesters.
I’d say start studying the Bible so you can blend in, but actually knowing scripture is VERY uncommon among the MAGA crowd.

I am the parent of a queer girl. There is no way I can justify staying and risking her being taken away and put in some conversion therapy camp. Or just have to be in the closet she’s never been in and never find love except in secret. In fact, due to the internet being forever, she can’t even really go into the closet if she needed to.
Meanwhile, Britain is working to outlaw conversion therapy with cross-party support. It’s safer for her there.
