If they had run Sanders back when the people demanded it, none of this crap would have gone down. Trump would just be an orange shit stan on the bottom of Bernie’s shoe. The DNC leadership deserves all the blame here.

This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.

Nah but seriously that’s political spin, they pick a keyword, phrase, or topic and try to make it stick by hammering it over in unison, all sides do it globally. It’s a form of PR, it’s lame AF but not really a big deal.

The bigger problem is how the DNC was able to be owned by an individual, and how outright corrupt they are in their position of kingmakers.

The “this is extremely dangerous to our democracy” wasn’t a jab at the Sinclair Media Group’s “this is extremely dangerous to our democracy” campaign some years ago? Which was definitely a media conspiracy to push a narrative.

If that wasn’t a reference and just accidentally the exact phrase, oops. If it was, then the implication that the democratic party’s media machine was manipulating consistent messaging was pretty clear.

DNC leadership got us here more than anything. They sabotage candidates that voters want so that they can force on us candidates that big money donors prefer.

If Biden was so unelectable that he needed to be replaced immediately before the convention, and if 60%+ of the country thought things were on the wrong track, why would you run a Biden 2.0 campaign?

There was unique opportunity for Harris to thank Biden for his service and pivot. She should have had an answer for what she would have done differently than Biden, how she would have delivered more for Americans (regardless of if that was even possible).

Americans needed to hear Hope and Change, and she tried to sell them the status quo, but with Liz Cheney in her cabinet. Americans chose chaos, because the status quo ain’t working for them.

Things went to shit while Trump was still in office. There was a whole year Harris could have spent a lot more time reminding people about where prices made their biggest jumps and a million people died. And he told us to drink bleach.

It seems that Harris only talked very specifically about price-gouging and didn’t generally address inequality, jobs, etc. She was afraid of sounding like Bernie and too willing to lean right. And still got called a communist.

2 and 3 mostly, but I’d like to add:

      1. Neolibs who can’t see past their own nose that the old world of Bush, Gore, Obama, Romney, McCain, Clintons are all gone and the people actually need and want big ideas and simply tinkering with the neoliberal worldview isn’t going to appeal even if the ideas might work because they just haven’t in so long. Bidenomics this, GDP that, most people work 2 jobs to live in slums. It is actually okay if things get worse if it’s to a greater purpose and things get better eventually, what people hate is slow incessant tweaking of nuanced details far beyond them of what they see as a failed system

I’m gonna give third party a pass.

It’s the 15 mil that normally don’t vote historically that voted in 2020 I’m disappointed in. If only half them voted it would have changed things.

I get their frustration cause it’s same with mine, the DNC is not progressive enough.

If 15 million people voted third party, it would have sent a better message to the DNC than not voting at all. At the minimum I can respect the third party people that did something, way more than those that did nothing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is why the DNC even went with the plan to court moderate Republicans. Cause they “actually vote” and had no faith in progressives. Sounds super dumb and out of touch but it’s the DNC so could be legit.

      Nazis.

Nazis are to blame. You’ve listed people who didn’t do enough to stop it.

      Secondary.

Nazis are at fault here. Stop being the worst version of the left, everybody. This is the oldest enemy the world has known, authoritarianism, and it’s smaller than all three numbered groups above. All of us vs them, same as ever.

This article wrote Andrew Yang who should never be taken seriously by anyone.

However there’s blame everywhere here, mostly with the Democratic leadership AND the Democratic voters.

Sure, they ran a not so great campaign bit holy shit, nothing compared to the trainwreck that was Trump. But at the end of the day when voting mattered, Republican voters turned the fuck up and voted, millions of Democrats did fucking not.

Everyone has a massive amount of blame here, we are all collectively responsible even if you like I did voted for Harris and we all deserve the consequences.

Biden managed a win against Trump and while Clinton lost the electoral college she did win the popular vote… Harris did neither.

Neoliberal politics that constantly squeeze the working class to steal wealth for the rich have led to a lot of discontent - people wrongly assume Trump will fix that while Harris’ campaign was basically just “We’re going to neoliberal so hard your neoliberalism is going to have neoliberalism in its neoliberalism.”

That was just a losing strategy and failed to capture votes like Biden or Obama the latter of which literally ran on “hope and change”.

        He got that last time.

Bigger issues is the 10 million Biden voters that sat it out this time around. That’s an “us” problem.

The biggest thing i hear from undecideds I talk to is that nobody really seems to care about the threat to democracy and Trump being evil. They just continue to assume he’s gonna be better for economy and their messaging of blaming Biden/Kamala for everything works.

I think we needed better more direct policies specifically suited to the demographics we are trying to reach, and simpler language when detailing his blame in the economy and threat to democracy. We refused to say “fascist” while “radical leftist lunatics” became his standard nomenclature. If those are the labels that get through to people, then we should use them.

We’ll need a firebrand to get people back on board, talking fundamental changes and a promise of “not more of the same”.

I appreciate how Kamala ran her campaign, but appealing to the joyfulness in people’s hearts isn’t enough. People need something to rally around.

It’s not only that, it’s the fact that Trump is so profoundly dangerous that the danger becomes a central talking point, which drowns everything else out.

Harris might go on an interview, and talk about what she wants to do for the country, but then the interviewer asks her about Trump’s fascism and she answers honestly. The headline the next day is “Harris calls Trump names”, the policy stuff is a footnote, and people sat they are still waiting for her to explain her vision.

I distinctly remember a headline that read “Trump and Harris trade barbs”. When you read it though, it contrasted Trump calling Harris dumb misogynistic names to Harris pointing out all the people from his last administration who called him unfit.

It’s Harris’s fault because over 100 million people sat out the election. It was on her to get those people to the polls and she utterly failed to do so. When people are motivated Democrats win. Obama got that. Harris’s entire campaign was geared towards motivating conservatives. Conservatives that were never going to vote for her because they already had a more conservative option. People were looking for solutions and what Harris promised is to maintain the status quo.

Maybe, if we’re extremely lucky, and we even still have elections in four more years, Democrats will finally have learned to stop trying to out conservative the conservatives and actually run on progressive policies.

You got it wrong. Traitors invaded their neighbors’ houses and messed up their beds.

I know “America” gets used as a group term but come on. This is not even really a detail. Be mad at the nazis, not the poor normal folks stuck with crazy neighbors.
