Are men asked to do too much?"

Yes, men are absolutely asked to do too much. The 40 hour workweek was invented back when most men had what amounted to a slave at home to cook and clean and raise kids. When women entered the workforce, everyone’s hours should have been halved. And when technology improved, the workweek should have been reduced.

George Jetson’s job is to push a button, and he only has to do it 2 hours a week in order to provide for a family of 4 with a sapient robot maid. That’s what the people of the 20th century thought the future would be like. Unfortunately, they forgot that they lived within a capitalist system. They thought improvements in the means of production would benefit the working class and not the owning class. When advancements in technology are owned by the Capital class, this is what happens.

Men and women and enbies are expected to do too much. At our current level of technological development, we should be working one day a week, and spending the rest of our time studying, producing art, and engaging with our community and our political processes.
