When women entered the workforce, everyone’s hours should have been halved. And when technology improved, the workweek should have been reduced.

That’s what the people of the 20th century thought the future would be like. Unfortunately, they forgot that they lived within a capitalist system. They thought improvements in the means of production would benefit the working class and not the owning class. When advancements in technology are owned by the Capital class, this is what happens.
